Hey all. Thought id share my experience. New 162 Tig. 1500kms on clock. Adelaide to Melbourne. 2 adults and luggage. In eco mode no aircon. Once at my destination i completed 800kms with 80 range according to trip. Great result i think on one tank. Especially we were sitting on speed limit whole way. Better than my old 132tsi Tig.

Just completed a 2800km road trip. Fuel consumption was absolutely great. It is mostly highway. I have been tracking the fuel usage on Fuelly. See below for details
Red Tig (Volkswagen Tiguan) | Fuelly
MY17 Tiguan 140TDI + DAP; Ruby Red; Notification of Birth 19 May'17; Emigration on Morning Celesta began 2 June'17; Entry into Australia 17 Jul'17; Citizenship obtained 8 Sep'17;
its only the 2nd tank, did another 50kms on it yday, now down to 9.4/100km
not too bad
highway drives definately getting down to mid 6s, but being under 1000km it will fluctuate
My 132 gives an avg of 8.0 with both freeway and city everyday drive (its on normal drive).
I'm getting 7.8 long term over 5400km in my 132tsi mostly running 98RON as local servo doesn't carry 95 anymore....
