I share your frustration... I've got out when the alarm is solid and red, and measured the clearance at 100mm at the lowest point. Would love to be able to lower my Arteon.
Reverse brake-slamming sensitivity
Hi All,
Does anyone know how to disable the reverse and/or forward motion emergency braking?
Every time I reverse into my garage (down slope into garage) with my foot on the brake or accelerator, the emergency brakes activate resulting in the car skidding to an unnecessary stop.. This has also happened while driving forward in a car park with an oncoming vehicle.
In either situations there has not been any risk if a collision..
Thanks in advance

My Wifes car has this and it's saved me one time from a dangerous bush I was backing towards. The tech is great up until it gets in the way. In our case it's very very rarely been an issue, but I suppose the makers can't put in an override switch without causing themselves issues.

I understand that it could help in some situations but having to change the way I park in the garage because of the automatic braking is a bit irritating especially when making multiple trips a day

@passat123: Hmm........I must preface my response with the twin caveats that I personally have no experience with tweaking this aspect of the car's braking function and that modifying the emergency braking facility WILL have an important safety impact on the car's occupants.
My other important disclosure is that I don't know how this car is configured - so I'm guessing which Brake module is installed
Anyhow, with the preamble above said - on some version Brake modules on MQB platform cars (like your mk2 Tiggy), there is an adaptation channel in the hex03 module with the name Electromechanical parking brake: emergency braking - which has the factory setting activated!
Clearly this would be a pertinent channel for experimentation if you wanted to pursue this matter - but also clearly, you need access to a diagnostic device like VCDS, or OBDeleven for the exercise.
Again, I have NO personal experience with this tweak and I'm not aware how easy the module allows access to this channel - but it is very likely that a security code will be needed. If so, I have identified a number of known security codes for the hex03 module on the Ross-Tech forum HERE.
If a security code is required, please note the opening paragraph on my webpage concerning the unforgiving nature of modules when incorrect entries are tried.

Please don't PM to ask questions about coding, or vehicle repairs. The better place to deal with these matters is on-line, in the forum proper. That way you get the benefit of the expertise of the wider forum! Thank you.
Does anyone know what tech is used to measure distance? Is it just the (?acoustic?) parking sensors, radar, parking camera, or a combination of these?
My brake-slammer seems like it's more eager after rain when the road and car are wet.
Had a crazy thought last night (after brake slamming incident), whether it'd possible to paint a little 'stealth' coating on the lip coming out of my driveway to make the system think it was further away.
When you out it in reverse, look on the screen on the bottom left, there are 2 square boxes, one with an exclamation mark 8 think and the other has an A I think - one is the alarm for AEB, the other is the application of AEB. Put in reverse, and press each in turn and the system turns off. It’s std for lots of towbar installs . You can also turn it off for forward as well, but you have to use reverse to bring up the camera view first, and then drive at less than 20kmh( when the camera turns off)
Thank you! I'll try that out.
I assume it just temporarily disables?
Seems to be working - the 'A' button (when highlighted/orange) will disable brake slamming. Seems to disable it for the trip - need to confirm, but it was still highlighted when I came home from a non-stop trip.
Time to start looking at lowering options =)
