    Fog lights on cornering?

I for some reason until tonight just assumed that the cornering lights in my tig were the fog lights tuning off and on upon cornering but they aren’t (have since learnt the reflector and light in the actual headlight) but I know some other VW models (maybe without the headlight reflector one) have the fog light come on to be used as the cornering light.

Can we enable the fogs to come on? Surely more light is better than less light turning into street corners etc..

Yes, I believe you can. Using OBD11 with the following instructions you should be able to do it, not that I have tried on mine though:

    Cornering Fog Light Activation
Left or right fog light will turn on when indicating. Fog lights must be fitted.

Select Control unit 09 (Central Electrics)
    Security access
    Access Code 31347
    Adaptation
    (5) Leuchte12NL LB45-Lichtfunktion B12 auswählen
    Select: Abbiegelicht links
    (5) Leuchte13NL RB5-Lichtfunktion B13 auswählen
    Select: Abbiegelicht rechts

This was already enabled (static cornering lamps) on my comfortline from the factory.

That maybe the case for the models without the cornering lights in the headlights. Not sure

Models with halogen headlights use their fog lights to illuminate corners.
The LED headlights use the main headlight unit to illuminate corners instead of the fog lights. Using the fog lights in addition to this would provide a bit more illumination to the side.

That’s a good answer - mine is a 2016 build so the LED lights were not an option for Oz. On the other hand the cornering lights work well.

    That's not quite correct.
The Adventure model also has LED headlights and uses fog lights when indicating at night.
The LED headlights are not the same as the Highline models.
