Question Are DSG Jerky in 1st Gear and prone to Failure ?

Had a hire care today for work, and it had a 'Dry DSG'

It was as Jerky as crap when taking off in 1st gear.
It felt like I was driving a manual when you try to take off in 1st gear in a manual.

When I test drove the Tiguan, I don't recall taking off in 1st gear being jerky.

As the VW Tiguan is a 'Wet DSG', are 'Wet DSG' known to be smoother and more reliable ?

The below pamphlet from the glove box of the hire car is of concern
