my allspace 140tdi really slurs/slips the clutch alot on this change. warm or cold tans temp. its only in full-throttle applications, that it changes crisply.
worried about clutch wear on the 2/4/6th gear clutch. the gentler i am on the throttle, the worse/longer the slip (as in it acts like a torque converter box) it isn't actually flaring.
does anyone notice the same on their cars?

Yes, but assuming the clutch does eventually wear(within warranty) I’m sure that having only alternate gears and a horrible driving experience will be ‘characteristic of the car’
It’s pretty standard operation of the DSG transmission. It does this to provide a smooth driving experience.
The only way to change this is to get an aftermarket DSG tune.

Just kidding, it's pretty standard. If you think the DQ500 is a bit "how you going" go drive a MK5/6 GTI or similar e.g. Jetta or Skoda Superb in that age range, it's horrendous.
I’m actually surprised that my 140tdi is the least impressive engine I’ve driven so far from vw (77, 110 and 132tsi engines) my torque is less impressive and I have the most turbo lag. The 110tsi engine has been my overall favourite. Amazing bottom end and still builds power throughout the revs.
Off topic regarding the trans, but aside from the dry box light shudder and one clutch burn, the ‘experience’ was better in those other cars(polo, golf and Tiguan)
Amazed how Petrol is the new diesel, for bottom end power and low engine speeds.
Simon you need to get your diesel tuned. These have been detuned so badly to meet emissions that there's no low-end torque and the pick-up is like nowhere near the diesels of a few years ago.
I drove a 130TDI Tig a few years back as a loaner and this was the best car to drive. It had a mountain of low-end torque and matched up to the DSG which would short-shift in D mode would keep you in the torque band of the engine. It just pulled like a train.
Move forward into post-dieselgate era and the low end torque of the diesels has been tuned out and matched with the transmission shift points the diesel cars no longer have the same level of urgency. The low end torque is not so prominent and the transmission shifts before peak torque is hit.
The only real solution is to get an aftermarket tune to bring back the low-end torque and just turn a blind eye to the emissions....

Do a DSG reset. Old way used to be turn ignition to on (but don't crank it) and depress the accelerator for 10 seconds.
Not sure if it's till the same for ours, but worth a shot.
If possible and you have VCDS and/or know someone with one, do an adaption if you can.

DSG sux for low speed gear changes, great for 8000rpm changes....

i tried the reset procedure, mentioned above. i dont think it worked, as a didnt hear any strange noises.
just seems like in 20000kms time, i'm going to be here complaining about how my clutch is shuddering, when it was 'self' inflicted(by the car) if any manula car was driven the way this thing does the 1st-2nd change, the clutch would be stuffed in no time.
never mind how it behaves under TJA mode in peak-hour traffic... as in 'holy clutch slip batman', type behaviour for a llooonnnggg time each time the car is nearly stopped and as it auto-creeps forward as the cars ahead do the same (most not dsg, or manuals)
