Tiguan is rip off close to $65k considering is by price in premium territory, but built with poor quality parts, sourced cheap to save some ''euro'' and offset still recovering expense from DG.
What is more worry for VAG even new upcoming Audi q3 is now almost same cheap quality materials all over similar to Tiguan built, except some nice cosmetic dashboard and front panels inserts and seats redesign, if you go under and hidden places all scream cheap ! But let we wait some more what else of this '' Proven German Quality'' will start failing apart..

Actually, good news is it was a bad batch, the bad news is that it was a bad batch of 5000 odd , it seems the first shipment of 10,000 units was fine, the second rushed (we did not know how well cars would sell with it) order of an additional 5000 have caused the issue.

So there are 5000 out there that will probably get this issue, either super rushed caused it, or a disgruntled over worked workforce, I vote for the latter

Has any one been able to activate this option.

The large range of build dates of the cars affected seem to make the ‘batch’ theory seem rather implausible. Unless vw only sell a few hundred tiguans- globally, per month.

I have chance to open play and reasarch on both generation display units in tiguan 2, including the ver 1. with knobs and ver. 2 with full glass display touch panel . The version 2 of discover pro 9.2inch it gives much niceer and more acurate color , better black level and conttas vs ver.1. However the version 2 has some serious issue with overheating ,most likely ips led panel and pcb electronics heating more and large glass like display panel atract more sun from our hot ozi sun which can get extremly hot in less than 30 min in use during sunny day. This ll will trigger inside lcd pannel ribon to pcb to fail and lose contact .The first ver. does not have this issue at all as using matte plastic display and does not atract sun and overheat . I would suggest all owners with ver.2 to run display on lowest seetings brightness ,will help lots to reduce overheat . replacment will need to have complete new version redisgned with built in behind active fan cooler or better passive radiotor cooler , or it will happen again and again to fail in hot areas like we have here in Australia

Had the Tiguan screen replaced and works fine now.. bought a Golf R.. and no issues with that one as well with the same 9.2in display.

Many others that also don't have an issue.

They can look same to you from font, however what is inside is different story If they didn't redesigned layout on the inside back PCB ad panel, maybe they just done on new batch simple solution by doing over contact hardener glue as they usually do with BGA chips which used to overheat and fail .Will try to compare if get chance those new replacement units and see if anything is different to problem versions.

Mine (mid-2018 build allspace) was replaced in one visit. I called and booked in with 2 weeks notice, which may have helped? 9.2” screen.
