I just mounted mine in the drivers side of the door pocket where it couldnt be seen DV52 did a schematic for one if I m correctly. Depends on the make of the remote
Just seeing if anyone has installed a garage opener switch in their Mk2 Tiguan and can provide some photos/instructions.
I did this in my B7 Passat and wired it to illuminate when the accessories lights were on. Want to do the same in the Tiguan, just not familiar with this car and hope someone can help.
Cheers

Mamba Ebike to replace Tiguan
I was looking to replace a blank accessory button at the shifter location with a push button then wire a B&D remote internally and also have the button connected to the acc circuit

^^^ I'm preempting @Hillbilly suggestion (of course) and I preface my response with the statement that I don't have access to the wiring diagrams for the mk2 Tiggy.
However, I did this very thing on mk7 Golf which shares the same DNA as OP's car (i.e. both vehicles are built on a MQB platform). Details about my approach can be found HERE.
As indicated in my explanation - my garage door controller was from Merlin (Chamberlain) - but this shouldn't matter because the integration of the switch on the remote to the car's button should be the same.
I built my solution with a simple multi-way plug/socket so that I could easily un-plug the device when I sold the car. It worked flawlessly for many years!!

Use the smart home option and convert your garage to WiFi, that way you can use your phone via Carplay/Android Auto to open it via voice as you approach the area.
Better option than mounting a hard button into the vehicle.

I was echoing the post of passat123. You can get the part number for the TCS switch from ilcats.ru
