Unhappy Broken sales contract - what to do?

After ordering my MY18.5 Tiguan Highline R-line months in advance, the dealer has failed to deliver by the agreed date.

No explanation why, just the usual buck passing to another sales person 'ohh are you are still interested in buying the vehicle' ...

... No, I just pay a deposit for the fun of it

I suspect that as I negotiated a good price, they gave the Tiguan to some other buyer who was willing to buy it at a higher price.

What a complete waste of time. Very let down by the whole process ...

I have now asked for my deposit back.

How much has the delivery blown out?

I ordered my MY18 R line 162 at the end of May 2017, estimated delivery at purchase November 2017. Vehicle was eventually delivered beginning of January 2018, so two months extra. Which from previous experience if the vehicle is a special order, ie. not already on the order books, is pretty standard.

Pretty poor form if the dealer has sold the car to another buyer.

You should be able to get the VIN of the car you bought and track it, from scheduled build date to delivery in its various stages, at least you could when I bought my Polo.

From order to agreed delivery date is 4+ months

To be fair 4+ months seems more than enough time to deliver a car that has been ordered.

I'd be escalating it to the Sales Manager and then the Dealer Principal.

Asking for your money back just lets them off.

I'd be getting them to give you their allocated Wolfsburg (equivalent or better spec than ordered) if they can't find another suitable vehicle.

Unless they can tell you exactly how late the vehicle is going to be and supply you a vehicle in the meantime until yours arrives (if you're now short of a car).

From my learnings at this forum, when I ordered the Tiguan I did ask for the VIN to track it.

They said they wouldn't give me one, as at this early order stage they didn't yet know whether it would come direct from Germany or the vehicle 'may' come from another dealer as a vehicle swap.

I got a call from the Business Manager (what ever that is compared to a Sales Manager ??) and she was happy to provide the refund.

No effort to try to sell me the car I ordered or even talk about why they couldn't supply the Tiguan as per the Sales Contract.

When I asked why they didn't deliver the car by the agreed date, her response was "ohh so you still want to buy a car" ... WTF ??
