Performance Tunes from $850Wrecking RS OCTAVIA 2 Link
I had ate ceramic brakes fitted from pretty much new on my Alltrack
Just about to hit 60,000k service and they still have heaps of meat left on the pads and the rotors don't even look worn
I will definitively use this combination again much impressed

Hi all, anyone recommend where to buy disks & pads in Perth, 2017 tiguan rline ? whoever fitted the last ones, pads are overlapping the disks (front)
what do you mean by overlapping?
2018 Tiguan Allspace TDI DAP+S&V
2010 Mazda RX8 GT
the pads are overlapping the edge of (the outer edge)disks almost like the pads are too big.
So my brakes just started to “squeal” yesterday, on light applications
I have done just under 30k kms and service was done about two months ago
Is this an audible warning that the brake pads will need replacing?
And is it likely I’ll need new discs as well?
Or can I get them machined?

For a free/easy answer, you’re going to have to look at them.
Brake pads are a bit hard to get a good ‘eyeball’ result with the wheel on. You may get lucky with a torch, gaps in the wheel, your own head angle.
Discs are harder to determine, but easier to ‘eyeball’.
If you can feel/see a ridge on the outer edge of the disks, and it’s more than a mm in ‘height’ it’s probably new discs. If there’s no ridge, you may not even need a skim.
Also check for any tracks on the disc surface. Sometimes a stone/metal item gets stuck in the pad/disc area and gouges out its own channel- again, if it’s deep, new disks. If shallow, or nothing there- as you were![]()
I just replaced by front rotors with DBA 4000's and pads to ATE ceramics at 45,000km service.

You can try getting your pads re-seated with some grease behind them. This may stop the noise.
There's no audible warning with the stock pads - though there is a pad wear indicator and this will set off a warning light on your dash. It's just more likely you have some road debris stuck in your pads that has caused groves in your rotors and end result is a bit of noise.
If you can run your finger across and feel that your rotors are not smooth you could look at getting them machined. The smoother the rotor, the less noise.
Generally change discs and pads at the same time, though with 30k on the clock you shouldn't be needing this early.
