    I concur with Lucas.

    The DBA Australia website lists the 310mm as vented and the 300mm as solids.

    Interestingly the Bendix and VAGPARTS websites list the same rear pad for both diameters

    Is it a big difference between solid and vented? One better than the other?

    I'd recommend replacing like for like.

    There is a difference in the 'hat' height of the vented disc and from what I have read only the Tiguan R (235kW) has the vented discs (also 21 inch wheels)

    That slight difference may cause an issue in the fitment.

    A VW independent specialist should be able to confirm

    There are some thermal advantages to a vented disc but for everyday driving and being on the rear that does not apply the majority of the braking that the front discs applies, the solid discs would be fine.

    Whether one better than the other would probably come down to whether you race track the vehicle looking for every little advantage.

    Another point to note is the friction material rating on the pads. Cheaper pads may not meet the 'GG' rating of the OEM pads.

    There's a good read on a number of brake pad manufacturer websites that provide info about these ratings and not going below the OEM standard. The front pads on our 2 cars shows GG ink jetted on the pad backing (as seem through the wheel )

    I'd be glad to see you report back on how you go with your brake change.

    Particularly:-

    - what equipment you decided on
    - how they perform in comparison to the factory brakes
    - how much brake dust is thrown in comparison to factory brakes

    After all I have 2 Tig's to do brakes on some time in the future too !

    I'm going with Brembo pads and rotors and looking at the product image it does say 'GG' rating.

    - I have shared the screenshot earlier with the equipment I will be using. I have booked the repair for next week so will see how I go
    - I'm not a very experienced driver as this is my first car ever soI don't know if I will be able to compare the difference. If there is anything I should look out for - I'll be happy to report back.
    - Right now, it hardly takes a week for my wheels to turn black because of brake dust. Hope new pads are better. Will check it out.

    Unfortunately you cant tell from that photo if your brakes are sold or vented. You need to take a photo from the top looking down. Refer to this which is an easy way to illustrate it Vented vs Solid Rotors | NGP Singapore

    The ceramic pads are much much better on the brake dust situation compared to the original pads. You can drive for a month and still have clean wheels.

    So its 300mm rear, got the mechanic to measure. And here is the pic of rear disk. Guess its solid.
