Browsing through the older ATE catalogues in PDF format, it would appear that 13.0470-2617.2 is a newer part number that was designed to replace 13.0470-2764.2 for some models.

For example, models that used to specify 13.0470-2764.2, such as the Audi S3, Skoda Superb, VW Golf GTI/R, Passat/CC and Tiguan, now specify 13.0470-2617.2, but the online catalogue does not tell you this.

(As an aside, some models still specify 13.0470-2764.2 rather than 13.0470-2617.2, so it is not an across the board replacement).

I found two Australian online stores which sell the superseded part (LD2764 = 13.0470-2764.2)

I also noticed the superseded part is nearly 70% cheaper than the updated part when comparing prices from an online store based in Europe.

So if you want ATE Ceramic pads at a reasonable price, I would consider purchasing the superseded part (13.0470-2764.2) because I find it difficult to justify spending $400+ for the latest part (13.0470-2617.2).

OK I've found the 13.0470-2617.2 pad.
This is what it looks like. Unfortunately the do not show an actual photo.

The second group of numbers in the picture reads 0460.They have used the same picture for the ceramic and non ceramic pad. 0470 = ceramic 0460 = non ceramic.

The length of this pad is 175 whereas the length of first pad I posted is 160.
While both pads are obviously quite different the web site lists both as suitable for the second generation Tiguan 162 TSI.
Makes things a bit confusing.

Thank you very much for links and detailed explanation. However price is way to much for just the pads even if they are Ceramic. I think I will need to continue cleaning my wheels :)

The purchase price of ATE Ceramic brake pads are certainly higher when compared to standard Euro-spec brake pads.

However, they enable lower wear rates on consumable items, such as the brake disc, as well as the brake pad itself. This means less frequent pad and disc replacements, which leads to lower maintenance costs, and when combined with the other benefit of reduced brake dust, I think there is good inherent value in this product.

As for whether that inherent value is enough to overcome its purchase price, I leave that judgement to each individual.

After I choice an selected my car, it says it will fit my 132kw tiguan 2017 Year.

Only what confuse me is dimension of brake pads noted is different than you noted above ?

According to that brochure, Bosch develops their brake pads to closely match the characteristics of the OE (factory fitted) brake pads.

On page 4, you can see that Bosch would select either ceramic (also referred to as Non-Asbestos Organic, NAO for short) or low metallic friction materials for Australian and Asian passenger vehicles, whichever better matches the OE characteristics.

For the same reason, Bosch would select a low metallic material for European cars, since that is the type of brake pad that most European vehicles are fitted with.

I suspect that particular pad will not fit your car, despite what is indicated on the Sparesbox website.

It is possible to roughly measure the length of your front brake pads (either 160 mm or 175 mm) without taking the wheels off.

Get a sheet of paper, roughly cut it to size, guide it through the wheel spokes, place it on the caliper, use a texta to mark the length of the brake pad, take it back out, and measure the markings with a ruler.

Alternatively, take a photo (try to get an unobstructed shot of the centre of the brake pad) and upload it onto the forum.

Otherwise, you will need to take the wheel off and measure the length of the brake pad directly.

According to that link, the 'Material' is listed as 'Low-Metallic'.

Low-Metallic (also known as low-met or low-steel) refers to a type of pad with a ferrous content of between 5-35%, usually chosen by European vehicle manufacturers for their performance and wear characteristics at high speeds. Their telltale sign is the inordinate amount of brake dust you often see caked onto the wheels of European cars.

It would appear to me that you have purchased a brake pad with similar characteristics as the OE brake pad. Having said that, the friction compound will not be identical to the OE pad, so it is still possible to observe a reduction in brake dust, depending on how Bosch has tweaked the compound, but not likely to match a NAO (i.e. ceramic) pad in that regard.

I’ve seen ATE Ceramic pads last well over 200,000km, some close to 300,000km and brake discs that are still fit for a new set of pads, but I’m yet to see any other brand’s ceramic pad to last longer than their non ceramic pads.

Thx for all help and research. I checked my brake pads without removing wheels , just enough place to put tape measure, yes you are right ,when looking on pictures end from end with mounting it is about 18cm so more close to 17.5cm like you said. However looking on actual brake pad contact length end to end excluding mounting bracket it is 16cm .
Maybe those stated Bosch measurement are for brake actual pad contact .Anyway Seller had 2x time confirmed they will fit after I provide him my car VIN No. Same is on Bosh website catalogue when entering car details it say this one are correct, maybe Bosch website has some car error database?
I should receive brake pads tomorrow , so we will see if they make mistake or not, hope they fit and I don't need to return it back :)
