    Water Pump class action

    Gday

Ive contacted a legal firm who may be interested in fighting the ongoing water pump issue that we have in the Golf, is there anyone in this group that has had to replace the water pump in their Tiguan at their cost?

Yesterday I had VW service my 2018 Tiguan with ~35,000km, about 2 months out of warranty and they found the thermostat will need to be replaced as there is leaking coolant..

Not looking forward to my next chat with them, just left after paying for the service and will do some research before I worry about the thermostat.

I haven't had to replace one in my Tiguan yet, but I've heard mixed stories about VW's water pump reliability. Some folks have had theirs go pretty early on, which can be frustrating.

If they are going to charge you dont get it done at VW they charge through the nose. I got both changed for $1600 and they will charge you $2500 for both i also got a part with a 4 year warranty as ive heard of replacemnt ones failing just out of the warranty.

Hello All. I have a My23 Cupra Ateca VZx with the VW EA888.4 & after 27,000km, the dealership has informed me that the thermostat housing is leaking. They said we will order the part in & fit it under warranty. My comment was why would you fit the same part that has failed in just 2 years. Then I thought dopey me, they don't care b/c in another 2 years my extended warranty will be up & the replacement cost will be on me. So that got me looking into approved non genuine part that works. I am an engineer & I see that the most common issue is thermal expansion & contraction of the plastic housing. It's engineering design 101 to ensure materials are fit for purpose & plastic is not fit for purpose with such large temperature changes experienced by an engine cooling system. After watching a few vids on VW & Renault & 'Dieselgate' I'm not sure customer satisfaction is a key driver for the dealers. My experience during my Cupra servicing at Cupra approved Cupra/Audi/VW dealer was that they would not know a car engine from a toaster. So does anyone know if VW have approved any non genuine water pumps /thermostats. Cheers

I noted that the 2nd hand 2018 we bought a couple of months at 80,000kms had the water pump replaced at 50,000kms. Was told it was a pretty regular thing to happen when I brought it up.
