Best way to record Speedo to capture over rev on launch

We have a random problem where the car over revs on launch and the gear box clunks heavily.

We have been told this was fixed by a $2000 cable between the gear selector and the gear box, and that the problem does not exist by our VW service centre.

I need a legal way to record the Speedo to show the over rev and the clunk the car experiences. Any ideas?

Would a OBD device help me capture this also?

PS we have the DSG 2018 version.

If you are having issues with the VW Service Centre I would strongly advise that you record in detail all of your future interactions, ask for everything in writing and contact VW Australia customer service to ask for their assistance in resolving the issue. They aren’t great either but you need to do this before making it formal via a consumer protection agency.

I have had an absolute nightmare with a warranty covered DSG fault & a Service centre in Sydney to the point where my next step is the Office of Fair Trading. You will need to have documented everything to improve the chances of a successful outcome.

Just gets someone to sit in the back seat (with seatbelt on) and film the issue over your shoulder?

Its the rev counter that tells you its over revving not the speedo. If clutches are slipping you could have 3000rpm and not be moving

We have the repair centre manager drive the car and reproduce after it was "fixed". It's a combo of angle and timing, as when he tried to reproduce in the same spot he could not. When we got back to the office the service manager spoke with him and I was told the guy did not report anything.

Was also told not to involve the Internet as it was all wrong. I know the spot where I can reproduce so will get somebody to film the console whilst I do it.

Apologies I was taking about the console in general as it happens under 5kmph, on an angle and the rev counter goes to1500 rpm. Just need to record it happening so that I can show the service manager it is not a figment of reading reviews of the DSG on the Internet.

That's how we got it fixed the first time. It had to go through goodwill, but those parts have no warranty, so if it fails a second time it has to go through goodwill again. I don't think it will be free next time, even though if I paid I would get a warranty on the parts.

Hoping the video will ensure the service manager takes it seriously.

Sounds like you need a set of clutches if it does that
