Best SUV Tyre for 2024

Being a quattro there was no way I was going to have different tyres so you guessed it, I replaced all four tyres with Pirelli Scorpion Verde due to my excellent run with the tiggy.

Damn, its a shame MyCar only has the Pirelli at 50% off once a year in Nov

You know it's funny, Flipper Dog just said Pirelli Scorpion Verde, and on the Tiggy we just bought I'm looking to swap away from them as I feel they make the ride too firm. I think they'll last for a ton of km but if comfort is your main requisite, then these aren't for you.

I literally just sat down after a 500km drive to look for a softer tyre and saw this thread...

Just checked my paperwork emailed from mycar yesterday $1317 including 4 x 25540R20 KUMHO HP71 EV 101W - booked in for new shoes Tuesday 12 March:

4 x wheel balance (and I believe free balances every 6 months or 10k)
$89 for wheel alignment
tyre disposal
12 months road hazard free puncture repair
30 day tyre satisfaction guarantee (apparently if you don't like them you can swap them out for equivalent value or pay different for more expensive)

Well I have had the Khumo's on for a couple of days, no hard driving yet but I have to say, for me, they ride much better than the Pirelli Scorpion Verde's. The Verde's are definitely much firmer and probably the better "performance" tyre when driving hard. The Khumo's appear to be more compliant touring type of tyre. I have to say I am very happy with the Khumo's so far and will post any updates should my views change over time.

I reside in Oxley, Brisbane - so if anyone wants to go for a drive in my 2018 Tiguan Wolfie to see what the Khumo tyres are like - just message me.

Can't say I noticed road noise with the Verde's or the Khumo's, haven't yet done 100- 110kph on the highway yet but will report back once I have.

The only issue I have at the moment is that have three Michelin Latitude Sports 3 tyres sitting in my garage with only 2k on them that nobody wants - oh well, can't win all the time

For anyone interested, I bought the Goodyear Efficient Grip Performance (v1) in mid-2022 to replace the original Conti SportContact (they lasted 65k kms) after reviewing quite a few articles/vids. Have done 47k kms and have been very happy. Its not a performance tyre so not as 'sporty' as the Contis (I don't drive hard anyway) but they're very good in the wet, ride quietly & comfortably with decent feedback and good value for money (via Tyresales.com.au). Would recommend and would purchase again.
