They’re low compared to a Prado, etc
Excuse my or ignorance. Is it correct that my standard highline tyres are not low profile?

Thanks Drivesafe.
does anyone know if there is any trouble with connecting a compressor to the battery for re-inflating?
Hi Craig, connecting your compressor to your cranking battery is fine but to assist the compressor, always have your motor running.
The higher voltage will allow the compressor to run faster, pumping up your tyres in a shorter time, with out overloading the compressor.

Hi Moose, Tigs come with both high and low profile tyres, and if you are not sure what you have, post up your tyre dimensions here.
I made it a requirement for my Tig to have high profile tyres so I could try it off road, but after nearly two years of ownership, I still have not had the time to try it off road.
Has anybody had theirs off road, other than sand driving?
thanks drivesafe
It depends on your definition of off road, some reckon that is any road that is not sealed, mine is it is off road if you might need a winch. Mine has been on a lot of unsealed roads with big rocks in some places and it is this type of surface that damages rims and tyres and is precisely why I didn't order an R Line with low profile tyres. I lightly touched a traffic island in our Golf Performance some time ago, exit one rim which can be repaired but the care needed to avoid this sort of stuff is just stupid.
So reporting back - the tiguan drives nicely down the beach as long as its hard, as soon as there is a little bit of loose sand on the surface the wizards kick in and without moving the throttle position power is all but cut. I first noticed after happily driving down the beach then going to park up the beach where its a bit softer, lucky i had i bit of a run up.
The real issue was after a weekend of people driving past our camp site, the beach was relatively churned up, and i got bogged simply trying to drive back down the beach onto the hard sand - getting caught up in the tracks. i can't stress enough how much the throttle automatically cuts out when you need it to just keep going. so now I've lost all momentum and stopped. to try to keep going i ease on the throttle, slowly more and more, nothing is happening until boom, 3 jets of sand 3m in the air. The max tracks were useless, as the nothing nothing everything meant i simply burnt the knobs of the tracks. i ended up being being pulled out by a hillux that had no trouble getting around, was even towing a camper up the beach no trouble.
It could be that I’m absolutely useless, my last suv was a Freelander2 and i couldn’t get that thing bogged even when i tried.
