Auto shut off irritation.

I have to get out of the vehicle to open a gate so I can park. Mostly the engine shuts off and the inbuilt nanny tells me to turn the ignition off. I keep the motor running by switching to off road mode just as I pull up. It resets to normal road mode when the car ignition is switched off so there is no risk of driving in off road mode when I go for a trip the next day.
