    Apple Carplay Issue

    Hi Guys,

I already posted this in the Electronics forum but got no response so posting here instead...

Is anyone else experiencing constant connecting and disconnecting with Apple Carplay?

I have a 2018 132TSI Tiguan and using an iPhone 6 (mine) and/or iPhone 6s Plus (wife's) both on the current iOS (12.1.2). I have tried using different cables, (both Apple and non Apple certified), unpairing bluetooth or turning off, forgetting Car within Carplay settings on phone and re-connecting, even forgetting the phone on the infotainment system it'self but no matter what I try it still randomly disconnects and re-connects sometimes disconnecting altogether .

I haven't been back to the dealer yet as I just wanted to find out if I've missed anything?

    Thanks in advance!

    Jamie

Sounds like a dodgy connector possibly if you’ve changed cables. I’d take it back to the dealer.

Does it happen in the second USB port? Doesn’t sound good though. Could be car or phone connection.

Check for crap inside the lightning socket. I used to get so many service requests for iPhones, where the lint/oils/dirt in the socket fixed the problem.

Thanks for the response Guys... Yep does the same behaviour in both ports but also when both are connected it can fight between the two, as in if the first one is connected to CP and the second one is then plugged in it just throws the first one off then just cycles through connecting and disconnecting...I did some googling though and lots of the same issue with other car manufacturers.

Do a stereo reset. It does reset all your saved settings though.

Hold power button until the u it has switched off AND then switched back on again.

Takes about 8-10secs for my unit.

Thanks Simonr23, I have tried both ports and cleared any possible dirt from the ports (both car and phone).

I tried the hard reset, not sure it actually did anything as nothing was reset. Issue remains..

I think it's time to take it back to the dealer. There is another issue I noticed, not sure if it's related (mirrors not pointing down when reversing, even though set within the infotainment setting)

I think the mirror switch needs to be on left mark for dipping to occur

Oh ok, haven't tried that or noticed where switch position is currently last set to. Will have a look later and test, thanks
