The only thing that turns up under audio (headphones icon) is the default android music app

What am I missing?

Open up Android Auto on your phone OR car, and tap the headphone icon twice. It will then show you a list of "music" playing apps. Once you choose one, it becomes your default app for music.

There’s an option in android auto developer settings to enable both 720p and 1080p output. I enabled both and google maps is very clear now.

the setting is only showing in developer setting:

Launch the Android Auto application on your smartphone

Tap on the hamburger menu icon in the top left corner

Select the About option

Tap repeatedly on the About Android Autoportion of the heading until a pop-up states that Developer settings is enabled

To locate the Developer settings, select the multi-dot menu button in the top right corner

Tap on Developer settings

then tick the checkbox to enable both 720p & 1080p

My wife uses Apple, I use Android (work provided).
I much prefer the ease of use with CarPlay.
I hope this update makes AA more user friendly

yup I got that. but as soon as you start navigation, the VW map disappeared from ActiveInfoDisplay

Ok, not sure if anyone else has found this, but when using Waze for satnav direction, the VW map is still active in the AID.

If I switched back to Google Maps satnav, the AID would go blank again with the message on using external device.
If then switching back to Waze, it would also be blank.
I would then need to cancel the navigation, restart Waze and then restart the navigation in Waze and it would work again.

Has anybody else found this?

For those using AA and have upgraded to the new version, how are you finding it?

My experience has been a bit buggy with the app occasionally not working, not responding or not accepting inputs. Been a bit disappointed really

My experience has been fine on 4.6.593334-release with the new UI.
