    Active TPMS

    Hi All,

I have a MY18 Tiguan 162, and would really like to fit the OEM active TPMS system. I realise there will be quite a few modules required and some coding. Has anyone looked into, achieved this? I have tried to search the forum but couldn't find anything, so apologies if the question has been already answered.

There is a thread on ross-tech, but i think it is for the previous gen model.

    Thanks!

    Matt

You can buy tpms kits off AliExpress that contain the tpms receiver, wiring harness and sensors.
The setup is pretty much the same as previous generation only there is a bit of adaptation required in 5f infotainment to give you the displays on the head unit as well as the dash.
A few hours all up to remove the rear bumper to mount the receiver, then run the wiring up to the gateway under the trim.

One is a sensor inside the tire wall that reads pressure and transmits to a reciever..

The standard TPMS included on every new VW measures the rotation of each wheel and will detect a loss of pressure or variance to other wheels.. it's not 100% accurate though

ahh! and sending the reading to the infotainment (when configured) as opposed to just a dash warning light. gotcha

Gives you individual pressure readings for all four wheels not just a warning on a change in rotational speed of one wheel.

More generally known as tpms direct.

I went with an aftermarket TPMS (internal), does the tick, but yes it would be nice if it was nicely layout in the dash and main screens.

Last car I had a cheap eBay valve cap TPMS (External), and that was fine also.
