ACC Issue?

Hi all,
I have a new MY20 Tiguan 162 Allspace Highline S&V package and R-Line package (my first VW) and think the behaviour of the ACC is a bit strange.
when cruising down a single lane road with the ACC activated, following a car in front, no worries. When the car in front pulls into a left turning lane (it’s own lane, not the shoulder of the road), my car hits the anchors as we come up behind the slowing, left turning car. I either have to override the ACC and accelerate manually, or let my car brake until it realises there is no one in front in which case the ACC begins to accelerate again.
Has anyone with ACC experienced this?

Sounds like overtake right prevention is on (can be disabled using tools like VCDS or OBD11), or the car is still visible to the driver assistance systems and is slowing you down to prevent a possible collision.

It’s like the opposite of “overtaking right prevention active” which I have disabled with VCDS.
I thought I had stuffed it up so reverted to standard and went for a test drive, but having that active, actually sees a car to my right, not allowing me to undertake.
Can the sensitivity of the camera be adjusted, not to see a car in the left lane?

Sounds like sensitivity in the camera, I don’t know if you can. I’ve experienced at times on certain parts of my ride home. Seems to be affected more with even a slight curve where someone in front is turning left or you’re coming out of a decline or right into an incline while someone in front is starting into a turn lane. Probably due to angle of attack.

This is standard behaviour for these systems.
They need to be programmed to err on the side of caution.
The field of view of the radar sensor is a bit wider than the lane you’re in at 10m distance, so cars that are in the neighbouring lanes are usually still read until you’re at their rear bumper bar.
Either dab the brakes as a car changes lanes (turn off cruise) or use the throttle to override the brake (doesn’t cance cruise)

It does operate the brake lights when it apples the brakes, so apart from looking a bit stupid to people behind you, it’s not a danger- just a nuisance. But vigilant and assertive driving/awareness covers it

You are misinterpreting what this does .

As standard it prevents you passing in the left or slower lane. By disabling it it allows you to pass on the left of a vehicle in the next lane.

What is happening is that the car slowing down in the next laneas your car gets within the braking area of the ACC and so tries to avoid running into it
.
Shouldnt do it really as on a multi lane road it would brake as you passed a car in an adjacent lane.

I dont have any problems like that on the highway Its just set and forget and it cruises past slower traffic fine.

It could be that you are still in line to a degree and it sees it as a problem. Try pulling to the right a bit as they slow and see if it helps

Take it in to the dealer and explain it carefully.

Same, applies as its settable for either side.

It does help if you put your location in your screen sig as this is an AUS forum and we dont know where you are
