There’s not one - at least not on the R-line wheel
If you have theDiscover Pro centre entertainment system, you’ll need to turn volume down by volume buttons or press the radio power power for about 2 secs

Very disappointed such a basic feature is not available

Even my old SUV has a mute button

    Press the power button.

A light push should mute, if you hold your finger it will cycle to a clock and if you keep holding it the unit will do a hard reset.

Mazda don’t have one either. Common place it seems.

The engineers probably don't think you need one. If your phone is paired to the entertainment unit it will mute it when the phone is active. Passengers shouldn't be touching buttons on the steering wheel...

If your phone isn't paired you shouldn't be using it.

So they figure it's a redundant feature.

Nice idea, but if I am using Sat Nav I don't want to turn off the Unit just mute the volume.

I thought there was a mute option in the Tiguan 2018 version. Maybe I am mistaken.

Tapping the power button mutes music but keeps the screen on. So it won't impact the nav screen
