Dealership called and said the Mechatronic part had come in.

They said it would be 4-6 weeks for the part to come in but pleasantly surprised that it came in after 2.5 weeks.

I couldn't see anywhere reference to replacement of the Mechatronic.

What is the 'TH Control Unit' (Part No: 0GC927711HVI1)?

That's the computer and sensor part of the Mechatronic. The valve body and solenoid valves attach to it to make the complete unit.

Interesting you say it had a clutch position sensor issue; here is a video on what that looks like on the unit.

Car was driven 20 kms during the replacement so I assume there maybe some recalibration of the gears and testing that follows?

Yep same problem as mine what was changed the tcu (as said before, basically the brain board that controls all the solenoids and pushes the buttons etc.)
    Stupidly common problem
Obviously something causes them to fail

After driving for the first week after they changed over the THC unit, I notice that the Tiguan feel more twitchy / jerky accelerating in 1st / 2nd gear.

Has anyone else noticed the same after the unit was replaced?

I'm guessing all the "learnings" may have been lost, so the TCU needs to relearn? Like when you do a DSG reset.

VW Alto Service Artarmon - avoid at all costs

5 months since VW Alto Service Artarmon first told me to go away and come back with proof when I took my car in with Gearbox in Emergency Mode issues.

62 days since my Tiguan was towed to VW Alto Service Artarmon in an un-drivable state.

28 Days since I turned to VW Australia Customer Care for help to get this sorted.

Throughout all this I believe VW Alto Service Artarmon have have lied to me. They tried to tell me it was fixed with a non existent software update. Ordered a replacement Mechatronic Control Unit, made me wait 5 weeks and then cancelled it. Conducted an unscheduled $1400/7 year 90k service when it is not yet 5 years old with less than 75k on the clock ($450).

To cap it all I'm now getting unpaid penalty notices from Sydney toll operators. They have managed to rack up over $400 so far. Judging by the times of the notices I suspect someone there is using my car as a daily driver (and FYI - the fault occurs on long drives up steep hills - think Blue Mountains - not Sydney Harbour Tunnel)

I think Alto Service Artarmon are crooked operators and I would advise all VW owners to avoid them at all costs.

VW Australia Customer Care have been unable to help resolve this issue at all. They say all the right things but there is nothing to show for a months worth of back and forth.

I have a meeting with a lawyer next but seriously how has this situation even occurred? The staff at Alto treat their customers with such disdain it beggars belief. My trust in VW as a brand is at rock bottom. I would really struggle to recommend a VW to anyone given what has happened.
