    162TSI Performance 0-100 times

Out of interest - has anyone with a 162TSI timed a 0-100 sprint in their car? I know that its claimed at 6.5secs, just keen to see if that is accurate or not.

I imagine that 6.5sec claimed time is with launch control. If you're just planting your foot you may not be able to get the claimed figure as launching improves the time by about 0.5sec or so.

However VW is known to be conservative with their claimed performance figures...

Sure is. My wife got her new 162tsi this week. The launch control behaves very differently to her old series 1 tiggy. The old car was brutal with the way it launched under launch control and shifted to the point where I would cringe waiting for something to snap every time (It didn't after 5 years of abuse). The new car is much more progressive with clutch engagement however this time it is to the point where I am thinking whether it is bad for the DSG clutch.

    1. Left foot on brake.
    2. Disengage traction control.
    3. Shift to sports/manual mode.
    4. Put accelerator to floor (revs should be limited to ~3,000rpm)
    5. Take foot off brake
    6. Hold on

May just have to take a 162TSI for a "test" drive.

Traction control off, select S, foot on brake, plant accelerator and revs should hit the 3,000rpm limiter, foot off brake and away you go...
