Some question about the timing belt on the Passat B8 140TDI

    Hello everyone,

Just joined the community! I own a 2016 Passat B8 Wagon 140TDI, and I'm loving the driving experience. However, I've hit 178,000 km and realized I haven't changed the timing belt yet. Do you think it's time to replace it? If so, any recommendations on where to get it done in Sydney and an estimate on the cost would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks!

About $1200 and you should do the water pump at the same time as its only about $250 extra plus a bit more labour.

Recommended replacement is 7 years or 105,000km WHICHEVER COMES FIRST.

I did mine after 7 years but had only done 38,000km

The car is well overdue for a timing belt replacement going off the kilometres you have driven. If a timing belt snaps then its a huge repair bill, so the $1000-1500 to have it replaced is a small price to pay.

As for a mechanic to take the car to, your profile says you are in the Zetland area, so try:

    - VW Village in Kensington
    - Wolfsburg Motors in St Peters
    - Central Autohaus in Alexandria
