    Passat brake kits

Does anyone know how regularly brakes should be replaced?
How often do pads & rotors need to be replaced?
2018 Passat 206kw stage 2+ failed WoF for worn pads.
Should I replace with OEM? 340mm Front 310 Rear or go with an upgrade in size?

Anyone able to shed some light on this for me?

Brake pads and rotors are based upon wear and remaining pad material and disc thickness, not time, so it's not possible to say how regularly they should be replaced. There is no prescribed "service interval" as such.

Stock sized discs are fine, but look at some better quality pads. something like ATE ceramic. Good bite and low dust.

You could wear out your brakes in as little as 20,000km, or it could take 100,000km..........it depends on where you drive the car and how you drive the car.

I have a 140TDI All Track so different car to yours. My back brakes have only lasted 35,000 km. Now have 2.5mm on pads so need to be replaced. Quite a lot of city driving in that so i guess that wears pads out quicker. Discs are pretty badly scored. I have seen posts from others complaining about back brakes on B8 wearing out pretty fast. My front brakes still have 7mm and discs look OK.

The rear do wear faster and that is attributed to the Cruise Control, as it slows the car via the rear brakes.

Thats interesting about the cruise control using rear brakes. The rear pads are also thinner and smaller to start with when you buy them. Also, scored rear discs also seem to be a problem on some B8 passats. I have seen other people mention in posts. I don't know if badly scored discs can indicate a poor quality disc or a poor quality brake pad.
