I've gone mad and decided to go for paint protection, interior protection and window tinting .... at the dealership! As many have pointed out, there's a big markup on these and I would be saving a bundle taking it elsewhere. But, everything will be done when I pick it up and the VW dealership is a 5 minute drive from work. This a huge convenience in terms of time and distance. Anyway, I've gone for the following:

Protektiv silica dioxide based paint protection (interior protection for leather, vinyl and carpet done by the same company)

Cancer council endorsed Dark Knight window film on the front doors and UV clear window film on the rear doors and window.

Got an email from Volkswagen Australia telling me my white 206TSI sedan has been built, but is yet to board a ship. The agony of waiting!
You've got the patience of a saint. I took a demo model because i didn't want to wait. Look forward to seeing the sedan when it arrives!

Lol.....I didn't even let them get the words out to quote me. $895 for Opti Coat. I'll get the 2 front windows tinted too. Just hope it lives up to expectations.

As for paint protection... I figured the factory should have that covered. I got the dealer to include the tint in the purchase price... I wasn't fussy, I just wanted my front windows to match the privacy, the back to have the clear UV block (for the kids) and the sunroof done! Tint brands mean nothing to me!

The other cool things I got included were the hard boot liner (a must!!!), the chrome strip along the bottom of the hatch (to stop bumping if inadvertently opened into something) and the bumper protector (pictured). I recommend them all!

Now thats the next thing I want. Thanks very much for the photo. Is it the OEM accessory. My VW service guy told me to get another after market strip as he didn't think the VW strip was worh the money.
On the color front. I'm usually a white car owner (Last car was a MY15 white Octavia RS wagon) but the silver color I think was a good compromise. I do like the darker (Tunsten) silver though. Very Classy!

It's the OEM strip (other than the tint, I only had OEM parts fitted). I didn't pay for any of them, they were included in the price. I'd go the OEM parts... just never pay full price for them, that's when they're a rip-off!

And there's the problem. My dealer(s) said he can only do them for full RRP. I've no issue with the quality of the part, just the $200 + for just the strip!

On a completely different OEM topic, I forgot to mention I had pair of ATE Ceramic front pads fitted. The wheel dust is almost non existent compared to the factory ones.

OEM pair with 800k's on them going cheap!

They would say that! They aren't hard to fit (I did something similar for our Lexus), so you can ring around and see if someone will sell and ship cheaper to you... or try eBay! I bought our Lexus OEM roof racks from the US with eBay... bloody fantastic!

    Congrats on the 206!

Just want to point out that the pads are not for R36 Wagon so forum members wont refer the wrong parts in the future.
    ATE LD2764 is for B7 and B8
ATE LD7200 is for R36, I bought these a while ago and the Passat R36 Wagon on the stickers caught my eyes

Thanks for the info. Just snapped a pic of the box they returned my old ones in.
No idea why it said R36.
Well picked up as someone may order the wrong ones.
FYI - Volksmuller recommended and installed these to my previous car amd this one.
    Cheers!

    Hi all,

I'm new to the forum, and interested in getting the 206TSI. I gotta say, this thread seems to have more information than anywhere else! I've been reading through, but I'm still a little confused/had a few questions, if anyone was willing to help out!

    1. Can you get a factory fitted towbar on the 206TSI? Looking at the spec guide, it doesn't provide any details, and it doesn't seem to be an option, but it sounds like a few people had a towbar installed?
    2. What is LC (launch control)?
    3. Does anyone know the capped price servicing costs? They don't exist on the VW website yet (I've sent them an email, but no reply so far).
    4. Are you able to adjust the ACC by +/- 1 kmph? Had a play on a quick test drive, but couldn't work it out (dealer didn't know either). I think I read somewhere you just need to use some different buttons.
    5. We have the previous generation Passat Alltrack, with sunroof, but it gets quite warm. Is this just as warm? Would you just add a tint or something to make it cooler?
    6. It sounds like you can't use the key fob to close the sunroof on the new model (Sunroof Convenience close for B8 Passat /alltrack disabled in australia). Is that correct?
    7. Do you think a sub $60k price tag, with sunroof, metallic paint, towbar, and maybe an accessory or two is doable? I'm also able to get a corporate discount.

    Thanks so much!
