I did exactly the same on mine. No PASSAT or 2.0TSI 4Motion blah de blah on the back. Clean, white and just the VW badge.

Hello all, I have just bought a Passat R Line MY17 with low KM's (Ex Melbourne). I am coming from a MY17 Ecoboost Mustang (full bolt on, ~295KW). Unortunately I had my Mustang written off and decided to go a little more family friendly but not SUV as I am over 4x4's etc having done 10+ years driving Landcruisers/Hiluxes/Rangers.

Anyway I hopefully get the vehicle in a few weeks, so starting to think about doing a couple minor mods but really having a difficult time to find any aftermarket parts for it or infact any good info sources. I haven't scoured this thread yet as I'm hoping there may be a good repository of info I am missing. At this stage I will either add in a drop in filter (K&N) or full intake and was looking into perhaps aftermarket intercooler to combat the aussie summers? If anyone has any suggestions etc? Not looking to make a race car but I know that there is a bit of performance left on the table with these cars as they are 220W in EU spec so not sure why detuned but I would probably think due to the Aussie heat conditions.

Thank you for any suggestions tips?

    Start with an ecu tune.
    Best bang for your buck.
Then see how you go from there plenty of options.

So you mean a JB1 or JB4? Any local sites you would suggest looking at, my google fu is letting me down with what I am finding so far.

They are an option as are direct ecu tunes like APR, Revo, Etuners, Racing line etc

Thanks, is there a good resource on these? From what I can work out the JB1 etc is a simple piggyback to trick into more boost, the others would be a complete rewrite of ecu yeah? I'll google around, I see your octavia has a Revo and I have seen the APR pop up a fair bit from tid bits I can find.

Are they easy to remove prior to service and reapply (ala Cobb style)

Yes piggyback tunes trick the ecu by modifying the data from sensors.
Physically removable however these days they are still detectable by the dealer software given how they have pushed the ecu outside of its expected parameters.

A full remap tune where the ecu map is rewritten is arguably a more complete approach to performance as it is working with the actual sensors inputs but modifying the ecu outputs.

Any big name tuner will give you great results.
Your best bet is to use a supplier that has a local presence and support.

Either piggyback or ecu remap will likely trigger a flag at the dealer so it's up to you if you want to take that on.
