bigW the VWA website still let's you build a diesel of every model that previously had a diesel, seems a bit dubious if you ask me... Having test driven an Arteon I don't see it as a Passat replacement, it's far less practical for starters.

Just confirmed with mascot dealer, 140tdi highlines are discontinued for the Australian market. Unsure as to whether it's vw Aust decision or a manufacturing issue in Germany.

    Passat alltracks are not discontinued.

maybe the spec and options will change for the 132tsi s and alltrack slightly, but limited info as of yet.

i will say I am aware That the entire Passat family is to be solely produced at the emden plant, as opposed to also Wolfsburg/ other plant in Germany as currently is. Correct me if I'm wrong.
this is a part of the production strategy for plant utilisation in Germany

The Europeans are turning against diesel technology, sadly. Nice to know I have the last model of something (That's never happened to me with a car. ) and will be doing my 1200km a tank on cheaper fuel for many years to come.

Looking further into it, I found on the German and uk vw configure pages, the 140tdi is available as a 4motion only, not front wheel drive,
for the Passat sedan, wagon, and Arteon.

previously it was available as fwd or 4wd in these markets

so it seems the 140tdi has now become a 4motion 7 speed option only. Thus discontinuation of the fwd 140tdi highline for Australia

Volkswagen have just committed $48b for battery contracts for EV's. Given we are about to be overrun by them it makes sense for manufacturers to start trimming their ICE stable. I am sure my next new car will be an EV.

I suspect this is due to the DQ380 7 speed for FWD not being up to the torque from the 140TDI, see the manufacturers specs Our Products | Volkswagen Automatic Transmission Tianjin , so rather than detune the torque a little they have discontinued FWD 140TDI for now...

I’m so glad I got in when I did and bought my 206 TSI Sedan. Interesting to read that it’s not just Australia, it’s discontinued in Germany also.

Same here, this is terrible news. I don't want a wagon. I don't want an SUV. I also don't want a ute. Well I do, but can't justify it.

So it would seem I got one of the last... manufactured in Oct' 17 made compliant in 2018 so I have a 2018 Volkswagen Passat 206TSi MY18 Sedan and I'm pretty pleased about it! And still happy about the fact I didn't get a Skoda like some wanted me too.

I realise this thread is now 70 pages long so apologies if it's been posted before or in another area, however has anyone considered removing the 2.0TSi badges and just leaving the 'Passat' on the left and the '4motion' on the right?

First thing I did when I got home with my 206 was remove the essay of badges on the right and just left the Passat. I've now removed that too so it's totally debadged. I'm planning to go stage 1 with it soon so I may put an R badge on the left after that
