I am currently torn between a 2018 3.6R Subaru Outback or the 206 TSI Wagon, lots of pluses and minuses on both sides - I was wandering if there were any reliability issues with the Passat that members have come across?

Had to laugh as I had that issue back in May I was torn between the Outback R / Levorg / Legacy B -Spec and the Passat but in the end the Passat was the way I went ..

p.s Never liked a Passat until the 206 TSI R-Line came along

Picked it up yesterday MY18 wagon - and really happy with it. Had to go to work today so couldn't drive it but looking forward to the weekend.

Quick question - I take it that the 206 does not come with a subwoofer?

Appologies if this has been covered - just startign to think about a Passat! Have you got the new Discover/Discover Pro display or still the MIBII display? Thanks!!

It has the new display with no button as such.

still trying to work out how everything works - does anyone know how to bring up your contacts using the steering wheels controls? I can only see the recent call list displayed - that is on the display between the speedo.

Long time listener, first time caller. This forum has been great.

Had to laugh at both of you. I was in the same boat in May as well. Test drove, Mazda 6, Mondeo, Liberty, Levorg, WRX, Audi S3 and Mustang. I ended up buying the new Passat 206, and have been impressed ever since I bought it in June.

    Verdict
Mazda 6 - Had good kit, for 2.5 L, was gutless as f***.
Liberty - When I was young, these were high end. Not as nice as I thought it would be.
Levorg - was ok, but was a wagon. We already have a soccer mum car, didn't need another.
WRX - thought they would have upgraded their motor by now. Was just ok inside.
Mondeo - Nice, but not AWD, and not that powerful.
Audi S3 - Man, this was nice, but too small (might as well buy the mustang). Then the sales guy said what about the S4 for $100k. hmmmm, no thanks.
Mustang - Yummy, but really only for 2.

I have only ever owned Falcons, last being the XR6T - 2007 model. That thing was a weapon. I would have loved to get the mustang (boyhood wet dream), but hard to get with kids, when its your daily. However, I really think that bang for buck, the Passat 206 is the business. With how comfortable it is, all the kit you get, the power and being AWD, if you have $65k (or less if you get a demo), and don't buy one of these, you have rocks in your head.

Try the APR Stage 1 tune. Then it IS a weapon. Huge gains in torque and kW!! DSG software upgrade is fantastic too.
