Thread: New Passat 206TSI R-Line

  1. #451

On friday we went for a run up to Terrigal for lunch which is about 160k return from where we live in Sydney. When we got back we had achieved 8.2 /100. Pretty happy with that!
Next test will be Sydney to Gold Coast in a few weeks.

You can buy extended warranty from the dealer before factory warranty runs out.
I have twice on 2 previous VWs and made plenty of claims. I keep cars for 5 years and buy an additional 3 year warranty at the dealer just befor factory warrant runs out leaving a VW warranty for 12 months when I sell the car, makes a huge difference in sale price and time to sell. No issue with claims, VW service does all the work, only thing they don't cover is trim. Just insure you service with the schedule or they will deny claims. One claim was 6k for a new gearbox. If you have any issue making a claim stand your ground a state you purchased a VW warranty and don't care who underwrites it. Hope that helps.

I've found for driving to and from work, using eco mode, I'm getting between 9 and 10 litres per hundred. If it's a good run, I'm getting under 9. I find that using the ACC is also a more fuel efficient way to drive, too.

Hitting the Yarra Valley tomorrow. Will see how it goes on the longer run.

So I've clocked up 3500km in my new 206 sedan and loving it. Would love to add a bit of spice though. Maybe getting GolfR/S3 performance of 5s 0-100. How accessible is that without too many modifications or risking engine/driveline?

    Hey

Glad to hear your loving yours too. My wagon is a little younger than yours with 2000kms on the clock. Iv removed the resonator from the exhausted and replaced it with a simplementation straight piece of pipe.

Iv installed a spullen turbo muffler delete and replaced the turbo to intercooler and the throttle inlet pipe. It all comes as one package.

Iv also replaces the turbo inlet flange pipe and installed a bigger air inlet and pod style filter. This also comes as a package.

Using my Ross tech to calculate my acceleration I managed a 0 to 60 mph of 4.9 seconds. But I still get beaten when I have a run with my mate in his mk7 R.

Tune to come next. That should give another 40 ish kW at the wheels.

It's just the extra weight of the passat. But it is a much more luxurious car over the golf imo.

    Good luck.

Does the resonator delete increase/change the exhaust note noticeably? Any drone? And do you get audible DSG farts now?

I'm also curious about exhaust tones..

I've just purchased a Skoda Superb 206 and have been contemplating modding the exhaust if I get some performance increase and better sound.

Resonator removal only changes the note a small amount. To be honest I could bever louder. When you say drown I would say it gives a nice note to the exhaust but deffinitly not annoying. And yes when pushed it gives a month very tinny sounding dsg fart. With tuning it can be increased. The guys at vw say it now sounds the same at a golf r. But I still want to replace the whole system. But for $60 it's a good mod.

It is supposed to do 0-100 in 5.1 secs out of the box. I'd just do a Stage 1 tune ($1100 approx) and that will boost output from 203kW to about 245-250kW. That should give 0-100 in about 4.6 secs same as a Stage 2+ Golf R.

hmm, isn't the new R Line 5.6/5.7 secs car? 250kw will only probably get you to 5.1 secs due to the weight.
