The traffic data is great in combination with the nav map in the dash. It's only like 1 setting.

The sign recognition is OK but not brilliant thanks to crap signage standards here in WA. It recognises speed signs just fine but will also pick up any miss placed signs (left out roadworks signs), so you can't really use the speed warning feature. I had to change 3 different parameters but it's not hard.

Needle sweep is just for a bit of fun, but looks cool. Also quite easy to change.

Tigger is right about the start/stop except that you can't set it to 14 v (well you can't in mine) but setting it to 12v seems to do the trick.

If your VCDS cable worked in your 2015 car then it will work in this. The OBD port in these cars is a little tight, it took a bit to get my adaptor in.

A word of caution about non-genuine VCDS adaptors. I've seen ECU's get bricked by dodgy cables so I would only recommend a genuine vag-com cable which is a little pricey.

Anyone in WA is welcome to hit me up and id be happy to configure the various features/parameters @ our weekly cars and coffee meet. For the over east guys, send me a PM and I don't mind lending you my cable, you'd just have to cover the costs of freight and it's return freight.

Oh and I can't take credit for working it out myself. This website helped with a lot, except a few things are named differently. Passat (3G) | Ankk-Vagcom

Hey Wynnston, any pics of the car to show us...? I'm looking at going for a white sedan (or wagon) with roof.

I actually scored a Harvard Blue wagon as a loaner car during my B7's service last week. Had the thing from 8am till 4pm which was a nice long test drive. B8 is a great car as I have previously mentioned when I drove the 132Tsi in 2015. The 206 engine in Passat is initially underwhelming when compared to the instant get up & go of the R36 V6 but once you get to know the nuances of the 2.0 turbo you can enjoy it just as much & feel you haven't lost any power advantage stepping from the R36 engine to the 206Tsi. Once you get on it of course then it comes on hard but otherwise it's a subtle cruiser as expected from a med/large car. So the question is, spend $60-65 g's on this or $80-85 g's on an A4 2.0 Quattro with similar spec but a little less power... Almost a no brainer, almost......

Can you share the details of the traffic sign tweak? Just struggling with that last one now...

This is exactly the problem I'm having right now. I like the 206TSI a lot, but I'm thinking of an Audi A4 as well, depending on what the price difference is. The 206TSI is a little more powerful (but less fuel efficient with only .3 seconds difference to 100 km h), and a little bigger. The Audi gives you more options, like a B&O sound system, ventilated seats, 360 degree camera, and a bunch of other little things! The Audi might be worth $10k - $15k more, but I don't think it's worth $20k - $25k more.

I had a fully spec'ed up B9 A4 over a weekend (2.0T). It had most fetures including some different leather and a carbon lip on the boot. Total price was $108k dealer price with all the options. I loved the A4, the dash was beautiful and it had a tad more refinement compared to the Passat. In the end there is no way it's 40k better than the Passat. I may have considered it if it was kitted out and was only another 10k, but any more and it isn't worth it to me.

I'll pop up some pics tomorrow. In my opinion, the car suits silver or grey better, but I've had silver and grey cars and I wanted something different. I've also de-badged the rear of mine (just the model, 2.0t and 4 motion badge) because I hate the clutter. I'm still getting over how many people stare at it, for some reason the DRL's make it a bit of a head turner. As soon as people work out it's a Passat, they probably turn up their nose, but I don't care, I'm loving the car

I got them off here, you just need to translate it using chrome or just wing it. Passat (3G) – Affichage des panneaux sur ODB | Ankk-Vagcom

Some of the parameters are named differently. Here are some of the names from my VCDS log.

I can do something up a little later. I'm just travelling for work tonight so I don't have access to all of my notes.

Oh, and one last thing. For enabling "Traffic Sign Recognition" in the instruments panel you have to have the car in the "On" position but not have the engine running (Press the Start button without your foot on the brake). It didn't seem to accept the coding with the engine running.
