Even if u sort out the long coding, it won't work unless u upload the correct 4B parameter file.

Once u have the file, then u will either need VCP or ODIS to upload it.
VCP couldn't do it for me, but ODIS was able to.

I've just re-traced my steps offline in OBD Eleven and I still can't see where I'm going wrong. Very strange that it's possible in the 2017 Tiguan without any parameter sets but not in a 2019.

I'll re-try again tonight in a live state. This might sound silly but I did the coding with the lights off (DRLs on). I assume that's correct/doesn't make a difference?

    Cheers

Must've got this in as I was writing my reply. Might not bother re-trying tonight then!

p.s. when u see "Dynamic Light Assist" option in the infotainment, it could mean either HBA (high beam assist) or DLA (dynamic light assist) is enabled.

HBA does not require uploading of 4B parameter files.
DLA does require uploading of 4B parameter files, unless it was pre-loaded from factory, which i believe the Arteons and the newer Golfs are.
i don't know if the Tiguan fits in the same bucket too.

I have HBA active at the moment (had it activated prior to attempting DLA) - that works perfectly and appears as "Light Assist" in the head unit. When I coded (or attempted to) DLA, it appeared as "Dynamic Light Assist"

With me, it was just persistence, if you managed to change the coding in 09 toAFS, FLA, Fernlicht (GLW,MDF), you shouldn’t need to change any parameters.

Whilst it is entirely possible that the 4b multifunction controller has the DLA parameter set from factory, with it disabled just by coding, I find this unlikely.
Even if it's coded correctly and not faulting, is it actually properly performing DLA functions as opposed to HBA?
For one it won't have the correct startup sequence (side to side, down and up, then masking inside to out).
It's very difficult to do but if possible could you show a video of DLA functionality?

It’s not HBA, I had that enabled previous to DLA, and the startup sequence is different, similar to what you mention.

    That's a bonus.
When we enabled it in a B8 previously the startup sequence didn't change until the parameter set was loaded.
So at some point in the production cycle they must have changed the configuration so that the 4B controllers so that they are pre-loaded with DLA parameter set.

that is a bonus indeed - getting away without requiring the MDF parameter file to be uploaded.

p.s. this is how the DLA looks like on start-up.....

    and in action......

I really like the way it operates with one question. If you are following a car on a long straight, say 300/400 metres behind with no oncoming traffic will it shade that car from full high beam? Has anyone tried the experiment?
