Ok, yeah, looks like we can only get HBA to work without Kamold's parameters, and even then, we might not have the right headlights.

Kamold, I'll try and get under my bonnet tomorrow and note down the part codes of the physical headlight. It may help you work out which ones are high and which ones are not.

Maybe even just a close up photo of the headlamps from the front (with the lights off) and I will try and get one to compare.

Ok, well I stand corrected.

I played around a little more and got it working with DLA (as far as settings are concerned). Took the car for a drive and it activated over 60 in a dimly lit area. The activation was more of a roll up of the light rather than the instant shutter with HBA.

I'm going to eat some dinner then go for a longer drive where I can do 100 km/h and it's dark (I live in the middle of the city).

My headlights didn't do the funky DLA startup, just the normal AFS wink process. I noticed that there is an adaptation option for "Presentation Mode" which I can't activate because I don't have a security key. This might be the key to getting the fancy startup mode.

Does anyone know what the security key for Module 55 - Headlight Range Control might be?

So I can confirm that it's working as DLA. The headlights dance all around the place and cutoff the beam with oncoming traffic. I was a little concerned it wasn't working properly, I had a car with dim tail lights about 100m away and it looked like I was blasting them with high beam, so I'll only use it on open country roads whenever I travel down south.

The good thing is that you still have full control over it, so you simply don't have to turn it on if you don't want to, or you can have manual main beam control with an extra push on the stalk.

I have to note that I don't get the fancy startup sequence. It's still the same level adjust up and down followed by the AFS dance.

Try login 20103 for the A5 camera if you need it.
Did you run basic settings, and then acknowledge basic settings after you changed the coding in A5 and 55 and the adaptations in 09?

I wonder what the differences are between your car and DR074s that mean yours can enable AFS and his is only HBA?

You need to set bit 6 manually in VCDS - there isn't a description in the label file currently.
Sorry I don't have a B8 so hopefully this desciption will help:

The raw coding is counted from right to left, starting at bit 0:

So if your coding is 00100101, you need to change bit 6 to active, making your new coding 01100101

Given your success I am getting a feeling that the parameter set may only change the startup sequence of the headlight range contoller, rather than activating the feature.
We should be able to come to a conclusion with DR074's car hopefully - if he can also enable DLA and still have the old startup sequence (and he is willing to try) we can then change between the AFS with MFD parameter set and the regular AFS set and see if there is any difference other than startup.

The only long coding I have in Control Unit 09 is in the subsystems for WWS and RLHS

Were you able to apply all the coding and adaptations per the link you posted?
If so then you need to run basic settings on address 55 headlight range, and then run acknowledge basic settings.
I haven't done this with obd11 so you'll have to check if these two are available. They are 2 seperate routines. Both need to be run to success (a few seconds each only)
