Title: Seeking Advice on Suspension Upgrade for Passat Variant B8 2.0 TSI 4Motion
Hi everyone,
I’m looking for some guidance on upgrading the suspension on my Passat Variant B8 2.0 TSI 4Motion. My initial plan was to lower the car slightly to improve handling and achieve a more aesthetic stance, without compromising too much on comfort or the Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC) functionality. To achieve this, I opted for the Eibach Pro Kit springs, believing they would provide a subtle drop without drastically altering the car's dynamics or ride height.
Unfortunately, the results haven’t been what I expected. The car has dropped significantly more than anticipated, resulting in rubbing issues against the body. The reduced ground clearance is a real challenge, and the ride quality has become uncomfortably harsh. This setup isn't practical for my needs, especially since I plan to keep this car for the long term.
Given that my car has done 130k, I’m considering this a good opportunity to completely overhaul the suspension setup and move to coilovers. However, I’m at a crossroads regarding whether to retain the DCC feature or go for non-DCC coilovers. My budget is a concern—I’d prefer not to spend over $4k (ruling out options like Bilstein B16 or KW V3).
While researching, I came across this option online: RSS-DCC - PASSAT VARIANT (B - 2.0 TSI 4motion 08.14 -
– AME Motorsport
. It looks promising, but I’m not sure if it’s a legitimate or reliable choice. Does anyone have experience with this setup or know if it’s worth considering?
If I do decide to move away from DCC, I’d still like to maintain a ride quality close to stock with improved comfort, while achieving a slightly lowered stance.
Has anyone here faced a similar situation or have recommendations for DCC or non-DCC coilovers that strike a balance between comfort, handling, and aesthetics? I’d really appreciate insights or advice from those who’ve been through this process.
Thanks in advance!
