Morning/evening all,
Got a quick question - has anyone fitted a DV+ T9359 with a turbo inlet elbow and air intake?
Reason I’m asking is that I heard there may be some adapter/clearance issues?
I’ve messaged GFB and they state the T9359 DV+ will fit onto an oem passat but not all 3 as they haven’t been able to guarantee fitment
Similar to the intake mods they did on Marty’s gti on MCM, I want to do all 3 at once, I have the engine duct block off and going to dremel into the intake side and eventually remove the snow grate if not already done by the intake
What’s everyone running??
Thanks in advance

I’m running an aftermarket turbo inlet elbow, dremeled intake duct, the intake duct block-off panel, and the snow grate removed to accompany my stage 1 ECU tune.
I run a stock air filter but I change it more regularly than recommended - I’m happy to sacrifice a tiny bit of flow for improved filtering of the OEM filter which no aftermarket items can match.
This approach flows more than adequately for up to Stage 2 tunes and sometimes beyond, according to a few trusted tuners that I’ve spoken to (and who don’t sell aftermarket intakes through their business, so no vested interests in promoting/selling them).
Haha yes that is the question I am wondering too! 😂
I wonder which setup will correctly fit all 3 components together, I know that the the DV+ will fit onto a OEM intake setup
From my understanding the upgraded DV essentially vents excess boost back into the system for recirculation when you lift off, similar to a blow off valve? Probably best to watch a video from GFB for further info
May I ask how it all sounds too? And do you feel an improvement? Have you also looked into getting a DV+? Or BOV system?
Thanks again, I remembered you from my previous post! I’ve ended up dechroming my car and just doing a resonator delete for a little more sound. Stage 1 TBC due to warranty
There's a very slight change in intake noise - you can hear the turbo whooshing and sucking a bit more, but that's about it.
Regarding power, in my opinion, intake mods simply do not give you the kind of power gain that you can feel on the bum dyno at stock or stage 1 power levels - regardless of whether you're talking about $200 in DIY mods with a cheap turbo inlet elbow, or a big-dollar aftermarket item. On a dyno, you might expect a handful of kW or horsepower at best, and that does not correlate with a measurable and repeatable performance gain in the real world. You need larger gains in power to be able notice the difference.
I've essentially done these basic intake mods so that in the back of my mind, I know I've done what I can reasonably do to remove restriction from the inlet tract to accompany my Stage 1 tune, without burning big dollars for the same (miniscule) flow gains.
Good luck to those who feel otherwise, but I will also say that expectation bias is a wonderful thing
I don't have any performance related issues with the factory DV so I haven't gone down this path. I had BOVs on Subarus when younger but I'm past that nowadays.
Nice re: the dechroming - I'm a fan!
If the DV+ improves throttle response as claimed, then I want one! Even if it doesn't add a single peak kW.
At stage 2, the power seems to be pretty much all or nothing... sometimes it just chugs in without much acceleration, then you grip the wheel tight (knowing that it'll go when ready) while pushing a little more and more on the go pedal, waiting for it to spontaneously leap out of it's skin and try to peel your arms off the wheel while throwing you back into your seat (maybe a little over-dramatic, but pretty much how it goes)
Having a more linear power curve and predictable throttle response is high on my list atm. One thing that has me hesitating to go stage 3 is that the lower end torque is worse than stage 2, and I want less lag.
How are people dechroming these cars? Plastidip? Or spending to get them sprayed?
I got my car wrapped with TechWrap in Auckland, roughly $800 compared to other shops quoting at least 1.5-3k...
Super happy with how it turned out - the vertical segments in the upper grille is unable to be wrapped due to its accessibility and ability to stay wrapped - IMO it adds a little flair which is always nice! I was also told that the wrap is able to have my roof racks over it, but I haven't put them back on yet
