2018 B8 Proline sedan

Hello everyone,

Pretty much signed up to this form to hopefully get some info on my newly acquired 2018 Passat.

I have recently purchased a VW Passat 1.8t B8 2018 Proline (sedan), due to waking up to see my previous car drowned in water (flood). Purchased it for $25k while it has done around 73,500km on the clock. Black Ex-Police car sedan with the secondary battery and custom wire harness.

The reason why I came to this forum is to find out more info on the specs of my car. So damn hard to find definitive answers. Dealers know nothing, and even the VW service centres don't have full details... they don't have it in their systems as it's a limited custom variant.

I can only guess my B8 has a higher output alternator, possibly upgraded breaks, and possible sports suspension. Hell, the dealers even listed this car having halogen lights, when it's clearly not due to the high kelven colour. It's bright white and therefore most likely a HID lights. Maybe LED bulbs but I doubt it.

So, is there anyone out there who may actually know what the full specs of the 2018 1.8t TSI Passat Sedan might be equipped with? 7 spd dry clutch or wet Cluch? At this point, could it even be a 1.8? hahaha

Hi and welcome.

There is some info in here: Aussie mods drive Victoria Police’s VW Passat fleet | GoAuto

Looks like it should be a regular 132TSI but with the larger capacity alternator, 2nd battery and different wiring but no other changes from a regular 132TSI. So same engine, transmission, suspension and brakes as the normal 132TSI.

I would like to think these models use the more reliable and stronger 7 speed wet clutch but im not sure. The 7 speed dry clutch is only used in lower powered/lower spec cars. I would think the weight of the Passat and the 250nm of torque would call for the wet clutch version. Im sure someone else will confirm.

Yes, I have read that article in my research and suspected as much from what I could find. Sad to hear there was not that much more goodies added, and was hoping to get some clarification from anyone in the know. hahaha.

From what I understand, the Proline is in between the base trim and the comfort line. Has everything from the comfort line, but missing leather seats and heated seat function, yet having the message function, missing memory seating function, yet larger infotainment screen (with a volume and tune nob), and missing the full digital screen cluster opting for the analog version.

I suspect it too will be a 7 spd dry clutch, but won't know unless it gets physically checked, unless someone already 100% knows.

Search up the PR codes the car came with; they will let to decode all the options, should be on the first pages in the log book or under the boot liner.

Now, it did not indicate if it is a dry clutch or wet clutch transmission. Also I don't understand "installation control only no requirement forecast". Not everything is listed.

The interesting part for me is "B0R = Component parts set complying with vehicle type for Australia various parts". This sounds to me like parts, component set-up, or mounting areas for the car to be installed with compatible custom parts locally.

I'll keep Googling. Into this.

The 132TSi has always used the 7spd DSG, nothing fancy there.
Here is some additional info on the "Proline" passat; Volkswagen Passat joins Australia’s highway patrol
Also, you have LED "low" headlights (reflector assembly), similar to our Wolfsburg Edition models.
The LED "high" is a projector style headlight assembly.
The 132TSI, was just a general duties vehicle...

Thanks for the reply mate. Yeah, I read that article too. I knew the 132TSI were for general duties, and that it uses a 7 spd, but was not sure if it is the 7 spd dry clutch or the wet clutch version. There is a high possibility that it is the dry clutch version.

As for the headlights, I am not too confident on it. I suspected them to be HID due to being a reflector design, plus due to the colour. I know the day time runninglights are LED, but for the low and high beam, both are reflectors. There is no projector. If it is LED, this is the first time for me seeing a reflector housed style LED headlights. But from what you have said, I'm now more convinced it's the LED from the Wolfsburg Edition.

To note, I just noticed early this morning, the headlights dip then raise back to position on start-up. So it possibly it has the auto dipping festure for on coming traffic?

It was a 7 speed dry clutch in the Comfortline. The Alltrack and the R line got a six speed wet clutch. I think the highline also got the six speed wet clutch. I don't think there was a seven speed wet clutch in Australia for the Passat.
