Check the connector with a multimeter at the wheel sensor; you should get a 5v or 12v reference signal
Hall effect ABS sensor measurement.
Hi all,
Only one of a dozen apps I tried with my obd reader would read anything (calista) and it detects no reading from the rear right wheel speed sensor... ive replaced it twice now, just in case the replacement was faulty and it's still spitting out codes and lights.
I checked my hub and it looks fine.. no build up, no missing bits.
Wondering what on earth I try next?
Cheers![]()

Replaced with a genuine or quality aftermarket part?
Cheap generic ones do not reliably work.
Also are you sure it's rear right? My inlaws mechanic replaced rear right sensor twice then went chasing wiring issues. I checked ABS fault code with VCDS and the issue was rear left implausible signal. He was using a multi-brand scanner like Autel or something and it wasn't correctly identifying the fault.

If your scan tool can show wheel speed for each wheel, you can test each one while on a lift, or jack stands.
ATE makes the OEM sensors; when I had one go, I was able to source the direct ATE part cheaper than VW, even had the VW logo on it![]()

switched rear hubs around and ruled that out... checked voltage on the bad sides plug and was only reading 0.2v give or take. I'm guessing that's not right?
Not sure what to try next short of taking it to a mechanic.
Cheers lads.
A resistance check between the sensor plug and the ABS unit would be next; the rear right is the sensor G44.
An open circuit would indicate a failed harness somewhere, I would be looking at the connections near the wheel well for corrosion, if the cabling tests ok, the fault may be the ABS module itself.
Might need some really long multimeter leads

ive pretty much given up at this point.. ill let it stay buggered for a few more months then ill take it to a mechanic once i save up I guess.. at least we've saved them doing a lot of the diagnosis.
Late to the party, but having the same issue with my Yeti, turns out if your car has auto reverse parking it runs a grey/specific rear ABS sensor rather than the typical black front ones that shows up under most part searches. May or may not apply, but be sure to get the exact part off the car and Google the heck out of it. My sensors are black front and grey rear, with very similar WHT part numbers, only the last number and a suffix added on the rears is different. Seems a lot of people put in what the parts place or online search tells them, without getting specific on the rears, which oddly enough seem to be the ones to fail most commonly. I'd hazard a guess grey applies to AWD as well, but all I know is what I've found on the UK Yeti forums where people have bought what was recommended ( black ) and put them in the rear and not fixed the problem.

coincidently i've just ordered these for my acc retrofit. I think the key criteria is the part number ends in A or B...

looking at it now i realise it says right side. I hope they are interchangeable as i've ordered two...
