    Vee's R36 Wagon

    Hi all,

Thought I'd start a new thread now that I have picked up my wagon. Quiet honestly I am thrilled with it. Only complaints are that the Fiscon Bluetooth is ****e for streaming music (but I'll use the MDI or SD card so no biggie) and that there are a couple of scratches and stone chips. I'll pick up some touch up paint from the dealer to tidy these up a bit. The chrome has also started delaminating on the shifter button, just bugs me. Will try to replace it at some stage.

Its a little high in the KM's at 170,000 but it is still very tight. I won't be putting too many k's on it so over time it should creep back down into the average for its age.

    Options:
    Power Tailgate

    Modifications:

Aftermarket RVC (aimed a little low for my liking)
    Arqray cat back stainless exhaust
    Extreme Motorsports CAI
    Flappy paddle extenders

    Future Plans:

No much really, would like some roof racks for the odd snow trip but thats about it aside from the couple of items above I want to tidy up. Might splash out on some euro plates if I can think of a decent combination that isn't already taken!

    Pretty pictures:

Very nice purchase mate. Enjoy, they're an amazing car..

And if you ever get sick of the Arqray exhaust I'll happily take it off your hands just name your price

Looks good mate, love Biscay Blue, sometimes wonder if I should have gone blue instead of white like I traditionally get. Your intake is Evolution Motorsports (EVO-MS) not Extreme, I have the same one. That plus the exhaust makes the car sound amazing, so great combo! Definitely keep them, stock R36's will sound very boring compared to yours.

Your wheels look to be in great condition for the age, I don't see any rash on them? Count yourself lucky if so! Paint chips happen (I have a few, also need to respray later in the year) but the wheels are not really feasible to properly repair so you are lucky there.

Ah yes sorry you are right on the CAI.

When I bought it had zero rash on any of the wheels. The spare has a bit though. My good wife was kind enough to give the rear left a touch on the first day!!

Hi Vee, Still looks good congrats

I've had one of the rims on our current car fixed by Wheel Solutions in Richmond (Melbourne)

It was a machined faced rim with a clear coat and they done a fantastic job in fixing it, these guys do a lot of high end cars from what I seen when I was there and were also reasonably priced I think ?, My rim was around $300.00 to fix but yours is just painted so I would imagine it should be less than that to fix

Enjoy your new car as it severed us well for the 4 years I owned it

    Thanks 4paw,

It does still look great, people keep asking me if it is new! It is a credit to you and the 2nd owner.

You will find the Omanyt is actually next to impossible to repair correctly. Every wheel place always says yeah easy and then they get it and go oh **** nah. The problem is it actually has a very deep curvature diamond cut lip, so first you need to do that, and then the problem is if the rash caught your spokes (Almost always does as they protrude out past the lip) it will sand the corners/points on them flat so you then need to weld to reshape your spokes. It is next to impossible. The only way to really do it is just diamond cut the lip if it is very very light rash or usually you have to give up on the lip, sand it all back and respray the whole thing silver.

Hence why I am saying he's mega lucky his are not bad. Trust me I have spoken to a lot of places to get this to happen, everyone always eventually decides it's too hard. I just bought a second hand set for $400 though, two of which are mint so I'll end up with a full mint condition set on mine and sell all my rashed ones as cheap repair jobs.

Potential stupid question. Did the Aussie cars not come with the warning triangle in the boot door or is mine just missing?

They did not come with it. If you want it you can track down the part number or the alternative option (Which I have done) is to buy the VW Roadside Assistance Kit which comes in a really awesome VW branded bag and has a ton of **** like first aid stuff, warning triangle, jump leads, mechanics gloves, screwdriver kit etc. - I don't know anyone else who bought it but I love it even just for how pro it looks in the back along with my OEM cargo net, which you should also get by the way because it's amazing.

    I'm an accessories guy.

Cheers, once I noticed the holder I looked up what it was for and was then curious as to why it wasn't there. I guess they only included it in country's where it is required by law.
