Smile Upgrading the Steering wheel and RCD 500 from B6 TO B8 steering wheel and Rcd330G/340

So I was oveseas and car was parked for 1 yr with battery connected to slow drip charger. Returned, changed the oil, fuel and oil filter and cleaned up the fuel tank, the diesel in the tank was black, no big solid pieces of Algae or crud but will run a Moly's diesel flush again in a few weeks. Getting new tyres Ps4. I finally decided on a few upgrades to my B6.

Hardware I have purchsed/in the process of getting.

So I got a used B8 wheel with airbag and clock spring and steering control module from a 2018 Alltrack from the wreckers. Its MFD is also available if you guys suggest it will be easier to just update it rather than modify things for the old MFD.

I am also in the process of getting a CAN gateway from the same car or from a 2016 B8 for the RCD330.

What I currently have are VCDS-Micro Can cable-No HEX

    CAN gateway 3C0 907 530 E
    Immobilize/Central Conv 3C0 959 433 R

    Steering wheel 3C0 953 549 AC
    Airbag 5N0 959 655

So I have the tools needed except not sure about the VCDS.
I have read up quite a few bits off the internet and watching videos of stuff but no one has gone from a B6 to B8.
Able to solder a bit, splice wires, remove connectors etc with no issues.

Plan is to do the steering wheel first and then try and source the cheapest/best rcd 330 android auto version available.

1 My question is will my Micro can enable to code for G28 sensor calibration and any other things I might need.
2 Will the immobilizer need recoding if I change the steering control module?? Getting a key off of the seller is also an option if that will keep things simple,
3 Intend to replace the cruise control stalk but happy to keep it if its really needed. Will get the cc free indicator stalks if I can manage.
4 Does the B8 have a 2 isto one Kufatec connector that I can get from the wreckers or do I still need to get it from Alibaba?
5 Whilst installing a rear camera is not a priority, I can add it in later once my income restarts.

I need as much input as possible. Most concern is regarding the immobilizer as I am based as far South of Perth as physically possible. Literally have the sea 4 streets down lol, do have a second car though in case I need to get something locally.. Thanks in advance.

Ok you're going to have to back up a bit here...
You're trying to mix a PQ46 platform car (B6) with MQB parts.
    Largely, that's not possible.

Steering wheel physically fits. However without a custom board soldered onto your steering wheel control module board, buttons, illumination and cruise buttons will not work.
MQB steering wheel control module is completely incompatible.
    MQB gateway is completely incompatible.
    MQB cluster is completely incompatible.

What parts do you want to upgrade? PQ46 is a very flexible platform and there are some cool things you can do, but there are limits.

Ok, so that puts paid to that, no wonder its so cheap. I will put a stop to the sale of the B8 steering wheel up for sale on ebay then and get a B7 steering wheel with airbag. AFAIK this does not need clockspring replacement, only the airbag and steering wheel control module. I will have to keep my stalk for CC and Indicators.
Mainly I wanted to upgrade the steering wheel, paddles not necessary, just a bit of chrome on the steering wheel will look nice to match the gear box.

I also wanted to upgrade the RCD5 series head unit to RCD 330 for android auto (I need type B). Changing the can gateway to anything after K series to prevent battery drain issue. I cannot understand the difference between Desai unit or what the 340 unit is so any input in that regard will be appreciated.

Next question was regarding antenna connectors. The B6 (TDI BMR engine)wagon has it imprinted on the glass
and have two antenna wires (some sources state one is for AM the other for FM) and you need to connect both of them to one receiver with booster for antenna to work.

A possiblity is to get left and right front heated seats from RS sedan that is being sold by Transporter (the Mod) if my transporter confirms a truck shipment of furniture goods from Syd to Perth, but this is not a major priority with current lockdown scenario.
I will get the rears later to match the fronts.

I will put up a link on ebay for others to source the standard wheel with airbag as its pretty cheap.

You can do the B8 wheel as I said, but it does require more work to get everything functional (and to my eye looks massively out of place in the PQ interior).
B7 wheel upgrade is a known quantity done many hundreds of times.

    RCD330/340 is also well documented.
You will already have a suitable gateway as you have a gen3 radio already. No need to upgrade.

Antenna needs a 2 into 2 farka adapter again well documented.

I thought the RCD 500 was gen 2?

Lol no, I wanted to keep it "original" and could not justity the costs and time but now with having a lot of time on my hands decided to just make changes also not that I was on the phone in my car all the time but with laws tightening around mobile phone use, cannot continue with the current setup and to be honest the RCD 330 is exactly what I wanted as I use google maps and didn't want to fiddle around in the cabin and place a GPS antenna under the dash.
