Timing belt change for my 2011 Passat

    Hey guys,

I recently purchased a 2011 Passat with 137ks on the odometer. Now have driven upto 139ks

I stupidly assumed that the timing belt would have been changed at around 100ks but I can't find any record of it in the log book.

Is there any way to check this apart from the log book, previous owner had left the country, unable to contact him?

Do you have any recommendations for a good mechanic who can do this in Sydney and how much will it cost?

hi, welcome to the forums, you can take it to a dealer who could probably check the thing for you. Or see in the service thread if there is someone who may service in your area with a good reputation on VWwater.
You would need to get the water body changed as well. Also consider the flange for change. The guy who did mine didnt change it and now there is a slow radiator leak.
    Good luck

    What engine is in it?

If it's a petrol engine, there is no belt to change.

If it's a diesel, it needs to be done every 105,000klms, or 7 years. Whichever comes first.

    Hi guys

My B7 Passat TDI is just over 103k kays and will be expecting to be needing a timing belt in the near future.

For my BMW I buy all my parts from FCP euro, but I believe the US get a different version of the passat there (manufactured in the USA) do they get the same engine so I can buy my parts from there?

IF not who is the best local supplier to purchase from?

I believe the timing belt and waterpump is due at the same time, any other parts need replacement? Does anyone have the necessary part numbers?

    Thanks guys

Do the belt as a kit, with all the pulleys.

Definitely do the water pump, as it'll be leaking. They all do.

Shop locally, at either Tooleys, HSY, or Imparts.

Someone mentioned the flange to be replaced at the same time. I second that. Mine wasn't changed last year as it probably was not part of the routine. After 9 months, a radiator leak developed and quickly got worse. I had to get it changed.

Thanks for your reply, I see your replies on a lot of threads with informative info

When calling say IMparts do I just ask for the timing belt kit for my VIN # or do I need to specify what parts I want?

Yeah, ask for the kit, plus coolant, plus water pump. If they haven't got the kit, they can do the parts seperately.
