Snow chains on Passat 2013 Alltrack with 225/50R17

Just wondering if anyone has has experience with fitting chains to a passat alltrack 225/50R17.

We are going to Hotham so we need to use the diamond pattern chains as per the Hotham rules.

I've measured 26mm clearance and RCS supplies recommended Konig CL 10 chains (here)

Just wondering if any other owners have experience with chains.

    Cheers

Snow chains are normally not required on AWD cars at Hotham or Buller (rather used at drivers discretion). However I have heard from a friend currently at Hotham that the weather is extreme, so be sure to get chains sorted before going as a precaution.

I realise my post post wasn't very helpful after re-reading it hahaha. I did have a look at the link and snow chains are generally made to be adjustable to all sorts, so ultimately I would say yes they will fit.

Honestly, I can't answer your question, but I can give you an alternative...
Get a pair of Autosocks instead!!! I can personally attest to them; used them on my Nissan Stagea RS4 and still use them on my V6 4Motion wagon.
It doesn't matter what the snow conditions are, deep and thick, or icy, they stick like velcro to carpet.

They go on and off far easier than a pair of chains, literally can be put on in minutes by yourself. And come off in seconds. They give MUCH better traction in the snow than any pair of chains and you can drive significantly faster (and on the bitumen) without fear of damaging your car.

They are available in Cooma from the Aussie distributor, VillageSki - Village Ski and Snowboard Cooma - For all your ski and snowboard hire needs

    They'll ship them to you.

Note: They may not be a legal alternative to chains in your state, so check with your roads department.

Textile or fabric snow socks, (Auto socks or Rud Soft Spike etc), are not approved for use as a snow chain in Victoria for 2WD, 4WD or AWD vehicles or in NSW for 2WD vehicles. In NSW, a textile or fabric snow sock can be used on any vehicle other than a 2WD because, because at this time, there is no requirement to use any snow chain "or traction device" at all on these types of AWD/4WD vehicles.

Snow socks that comply with the test procedures V-5121, and are marked V-5121, are defined in V-5121 as a 'traction device' & NOT a snow chain, never have been a snow chain, never will be a snow chain.
The only test standard for snow chains is V-5117 and V-5119

We actually dropped going to hotham this year because of this requirement. I bought a Passat 4 motionto avoid having to fit chains on snow trips.
Is the hotham access road really that bad? Ended up getting AT tyres with decent snow use reviews, but a dedicated snow tyre was my next choice.
