    SD card Error reading

    Hi all,

So i picked up a new SD card thinking id give that a go in the Passat instead of switching CD's all the time but so far i haven't been able to successfully use it.

Im pretty sure I've either picked the wrong card type/memory size or perhaps wrong format??
I honestly have no idea what the restrictions are when it comes to what SD card types the B6 Passat can read.

If anyone would be kind enough to tell me where i went wrong id gladly appreciate it!

Car model is a 2009 B6 Passat with the touch screen info system (no navigation).
Card: SanDisk Extreme SDXC 128GB (standard size card/not micro)
    Format: exFat
Structure: Seperate artist folders with albums in each one etc
Song formats: Mix of Mp3, wav & m4a

Cheers kamold for the info. Very much appreciated!
Looks like ill have to pick up a cheap 32GB basic card then

Would you happen to know also if only mp3 files can be read or are you allowed to have different file formats on the card too?

I finally finished converting my files all to mp3 and transferred about 25GB worth of files and thankfully they play from the SD card.

Only thing ive noticed though is every time I go to load the SD card media it takes a good solid 5 mins at least before anything starts to play (processing). Is that considered normal?

What is the folder structure? Are they all just in the root directory?

Ive created separate folders for each Artist and within those folders it has the separate Album/Singles files.

Will take a while to find things

I have an SD card with 2000 tracks on it and all are in the root directory. It is set to random play and works perfectly. Using the same card I had in my B7 Passat in the Tiguan

    all is good

You can format a 128gb card as Fat32 by using a program like guiformat-X64

I use it to format large cards for my Dashcams which while some of them were supposedly limited to 32Gb cards, happily use larger ones if correctly formatted

So your saying if i set it to random play it might solve the long load up issue?
I have noticed every time i select to play from the Media Card it always plays the exact same song from the exact same folder.
Honestly i have mucked around in the settings at all...just was happy that the card finally started to play LOL.

Cheers thx for the confirmation on larger card sizes working under the Fat32 file format.
Yeah i didn't realise that the 128Gb pro one i bought was formatted under Exfat when i was trying to test it out the first time.
I managed to fit like 90% of my fav music folders on the 32Gb card i bought so i guess its alright for now.

If i could just solve the 5 min+ loading time each time i switch the stereo on that would be brilliant!!
