    Retrofitting Reversing Camera

Hi - I'm in Adelaide and have just purchased a '12 VW Passat Sedan. Looking to get an integrated reversing camera installed (didn't realise it didn't come with one!), so wondering if people have suggestions on what to use, and people that do the installs in Adelaide?

    Thanks,

You can purchase the factory badge reverse camera and retrofit to the car. The wiring looms are generally
plug and play. Are you technically minded or hands on?

Just make sure your headunit has the connector for it Not all do.

Looks like this at the rear If its an RC510 it needs to be an A suffix

i have installed one on my on R36 and my wife's skoda yeti

    what you need:
    - compatible head unit - needs to have the right input on the back. if you have navigation then it is most likely ok
    - camera
    - coding

this is the company where i purchased my camera:
Golf 6 MK6 Reverse Parking Rearview Camera With License Plate Lamp Holder Rgbcam | eBay

they used to sell a universal camera for $100 or so but its not on ebay at the moment. try their website it still seems to be there just email them if you like.
this camera will plug into the OEM plug and is compatible with the screen. all you need is someone to install it and then do the coding for you

i got someone to do the coding for a slab of beer, and i installed it myself. not bad for $100.

    best of luck

Did you manage to get one of those licence plate camera mount to fit the sedan? I have been looking high and low for one....how's the reverse picture on the screen?
Would you mind posting a pic of that when you reverse next time? Just wanted to see how the angle looked like from down below. Thanks.

The number plate camera would be hopeless in the sedan as its far too low in the bumper .

That is meant for the wagon and its only high enough to use for parking in that Is useless as a rear view camera to see whats behind you.

Even the badge camera is only good for reverse parking. I have a crash camera in the front and rear of my wagon that can capture HD vision permanently.
