    Its just that the gateway is the switch that all the other parts use to talk to one another.
    Ok, I can comprehend that. But what is the new/old CANBUS module was used for example in the Philippines or worse in China? Wouldn't that mean that the rest of the code/s are applicable to cars driving in those countries?

    You're overwriting the coding. It is changing all the settings as may have previously been configured. It's all contained in that coding string. It tells the module how to behave, what's installed etc.

    Wow, thanks kamold. That is very clever of VW to be able to change all codings to applicable ones just by entering one string AND knowing eg. it's a r/h/d vehicle, it has sunroof, fog lamps, folding mirrors, etc, etc, etc! Thanks for explaining it all and being so patient.
