R36 Timing Chain Parts List and Suggestions

    Hey Team,

I've got arrangements for getting my timing chain done in the near future but I need to supply parts (and the tools?)

I'm going to make a list for this (and would like some help in doing so). This incluces necessary to complete the job and others that are more while you're there or potential things to be done.

I've gone with FCP Euro in this case, their shipping is insanely fairly priced and their prices and lifetime warranty make this a good option. I've confirmed my own VIN with them and they've cross referenced parts (my original findings were correct).

I've gone with OE/OEM parts for almost everything, IWIS is the OEM for VW, Audi, BMW and Mercedes.
I've found references online that sachs originally made chains but VW Switched to IWIN later on due to Sachs stretching. I'm not 100% on the latter part, however they are the current producer of the OEM chains as far as I can determine. You're welcome to go OEM, but I don't love my car that much..

I've got the parts list below for my own VIN, however this should be the same for most/if not all other 2010 R36's.

Buy VW Volkswagen Car Parts from Run Auto Parts is a great shop for filters, brake parts and sensors etc, but dont seem to have any timing related gear listed for the R36. Might be worth a call/email to them and see if they can source you something?

I have bought from them multiple times over the past 4-5 years and they have been good to deal with.

Otherwise you will likely be buying from the UK or other European country if you dont want to buy from VW directly.

So I contacted FCP Euro and as usual they sorted me out!

I've updated the original post for reference and explaining my decision for non-genuine parts (where applicable).

This is also a good time to consider changing out your engine and transmission mount, since at least one of these needs to be removed to do the chain and it's not overly expensive.

Thanks for putting this together. I'm using it to put together parts for my timing chain install.

I just want to put it out there, from 2011+ in models that use the 3.6L, VW has gone to a single part for the timing and intermediate timing sprockets.

    So
    03H109569 - Timing Sprocket - https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/vw-...-vag-03h109569 ($160)
    +
    066109570 - Intermediate Timing Sprocket - https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/vol...ovan-066109570 ($60)

    now is one part -

03H109569A - Timing Sprocket - VW Timing Sprocket - Genuine VW Audi 03H109569A | FCP Euro ($160) + Different bolt - Porsche Timing Sprocket Bolt - Genuine Porsche N10203803 | FCP Euro ($5)

Strangely, I can't find any info on anyone doing this though!
All the other part numbers line up.
Has anyone done this or should I be the guinea pig?
