are you sure they are the authentic OSRAM? 6000k and 4300k, huge difference

I would buy something from Powerbulbs:

    2010 MY10 R36 Wagon | Biscay Blue | Power Tailgate | RNS510 | MDI | RVC | 51,000 km |Garage Open Button | Dead Pedal Mod | OE Fit DRL | VCDS | Sprint Booster | H&R Rear Sway Bar | Alcantara Steering Wheel | Dual Reverse Light | 19" Bentley Wheels (BBS Forged Split) | Michelin PS 4S
2005 MY05 AH Astra HatchBlack | Facelifted SRi Looking | OpeliZed | Whiteline RSB | Eibach ProKit

I didn't think fake bulbs was even a thing! They look real enough. The label doesn't say OSRIM or OSRAN or anything

With both the original Philips and the OSRAM's the light is yellowish when looking straight into the headlight. At a slight angle it goes more white/bluish. Is that normal? Or should it be bluish even when looking direct into the beam?

My passenger side outer light has now got a purple glow, does this mean the globe is on its way out ?
Was reading above about the bumper, is it true just to change the globe ?

Unfortunately yes. I'm busy with the write at the moment. If it's your 1st time doing something of this scale expect it to take around 4-5 hours to do both lights. If you are only doing the one side you might be able to get away with only removing half the bumper (not 100% sure if that will work though). If so you could do it in 2 hours...ish.

Recently purchased official Philips Xenon WhiteVision gen2 D1S 5000K for my R36 and noticed a massive improvement in both light output and whiteness over my VW OEM's. Can hardly notice any yellow tinge at all. I sourced them due to the fact that VW Australia was going to sting me over $700 for a pair installed! Highway robbery!
These cost me $152 each less 20% discount at Powerbulbs and I only paid $93 installation at my local VW dealer. Total outlay = $336 bargain!!!

The internet is rife with fakes. Phillips have now introduced a QR Code on their boxes to try and combat this. All you need to do is scan the code with your mobile and go to their website. Not sure about Osram and there seems to be plenty more for sale online!

Wow that is a bargain! Next time I change the bulbs I might source from powerbulbs instead. Will probably still do it myself though because I like getting my hands dirty. R36 HID bulb replacement
