Apologies for dredging up an old thread but I couldn’t find too much on this subject - DSG whine.
My R36 wagon has just had its 90,000km service and the independent specialist gave it a clean bill of health and even provided a copy of the VCDS scan – no errors popped up.
One thing that I didn’t ask about was what I think is a DSG whine. Most times when driving I don’t hear anything but on the overrun when it picks a lower gear, say going down a hill it is quite noticeable. The noisiest gear would probably be third.
The DSG and Haldex oil changes were done at 60,000km.
Apart from that the DSG works fine with quick and unobtrusive gear changes. No clunks at all.
Should I be concerned?
