Passat 125tdi starting problem

Hi there, did you find out what the issue was?

I'm having the same problem with a 2008 Passat B6 TDI (BMR engine) including the cruise control bit. Starts the first time but then if you turn it off and try again it takes 5 or 6 goes with a long crank.I had a german car place do a diagnostic and came up with:
Camshaft position sensor (G40) - P3007-006 No signal - intermittent
Engine Speed sensor (G28 )- P0321-006 implausible signal intermittent

They suggested starting there so i changed the engine speed sensor (needed to do the DMF anyway) - didnt fix.
I changed the camshaft sensor (also re-did the timing belt that was done last year (by a garage) as the one of the rollers had a dent in it... so checked the timing and is good) - still the same issue.
I also replaced the battery and it cranks stronger (above 300 RPM, i can check OBD with a borrowed icarsoft but no codes showing since i changed the sensors).

not sure what else to do, when it starts it runs fine.
