Mounting MQB blind spot radars on a wagon?

Hey everyone. Busy trying to sort out this nightmare of a B6 I purchased a couple months ago. Been making decent but slow progress. I'm getting there though!

Question I have: has anyone done the 5Q0 Blind Spot Radar retrofit on their B6 wagon? If so where/what did you use to mount them?

I have a set of radars (C) and mounts from a Mk7 Golf. They looked like they were going to work really well (2 tabs fit directly to stock bumper re-bar mounts, just need a riv-nut for outer mounting tab) but it puts the outer PLA/PDC sensor in front of it which I'm assuming is no bueno?

Also trying to figure out where to punch the holes for the side PLA sensors on the rear bumper as well.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers
    -Mike

I completed a retrofit of 2Q0 radars to my R36 wagon last year, anyways long story short: The factory right rear PDC sensor and harness connector are right in front of the 2Q0 radar 5-10mm away - but no issues with radar functionality. I needed to clip the mounting bracket slightly for clearance.

As for mounting, I got some brackets from AliExpress that suit the B6 which the 2Q0 radars clip into, I did add a very small bolt to one of the tabs to ensure they wouldn't move - perhaps an abundance of caution, but I didn't fancy going back and doing it again.

I have a Westfalia tow bar fitted and the old mounting points for the crash bar work well for the inner mounting points of the radar bracket, although I needed to use a riv-nut on the LHS.

For the single outer bracket mounting tab on each side, I didn't use riv-nuts and came up with another solution, but that could work there too. There are some examples on drive2.com of a Polish VW retrofitter doing the 5Q0 fitting.

For the sensor holes, someone here will know, but maybe erWin.vw.com will have something.

    Hope that helps

    Thanks dude
I was wondering whether the PLA sensor would interfere with the radars. Apparently not. I saw that post you're referring to which is why I bought the mk7 mounts. He has his on a sedan but I rolled the dice and ordered them anyways. I will probably notch out the holes in the mounts tabs to drop the radars down about 15mm or so because (like you) I don't want to do this again. Not a big deal.
Here's what it looks like. Very similar to yours.

    My pleasure, that looks good.

Are yours already calibrated? That took a little time due to the mounting angles. My radars were brand new and needed calibration (luckily 2Q0 auto-calibrate). When I fitted them, I took some time to check the angle (well thought I did). My first calibration process failed with the master (RHS, module 1) being +7.7 degrees and out of spec. The slave, LHS module 2 was -2.5 (but in spec). So, RHS was pointing too far aft and LHS was not pointing aft quite enough.

I pulled the bar off and packed out the two inner tabs (reducing the angle) on the RHS, while the LHS module 2 was only slightly out, I packed the outer tab anyway, increasing the angle. They calibrated much quicker this time and are now +2.5 and -1.35 respectively (so not absolutely perfect, but computer said Yes, let's go).

    cheers

    Not calibrated yet.
I just ran the wiring yesterday and did a "rough in" on the mounts to see where they're going to live. That's when I realized the PLA sensor was where it was.
This car is in a complete state of chaos right now. Almost the entire interior has been removed right to the bulkhead by previous owner in preparation for a bunch of retrofits, then he gave up (had a couple kids) so I'm trying to put humpty dumpty back together again. It's been a ****e-load of work sorting out the partially done wiring and figuring out what's been installed.
I'm trying to wrap up all the retrofits now, put the intake manifold back on, and get the car making noise again (with 4 year old fuel in it) but I'm sure I can make it happen eventually. Got the BCM done only to realize the module I had was wrong so I'm waiting on a proper one.

This has been a learning experience let me tell ya!
Still need to figure out how the hell I'm going to code my ABS module. Found out recently that the BLV/B6 3AA ABS combo is not super awesome to code... that and I have no idea what I'm doing in that department but I'll learn as I go.
