    Major service interval

Hey guys im new to the vw brand. I cant see anything in the book that indicates what the major service interval is...?

I've been talking my car to the same mechanic for the last 10-15 years he is pretty good. But the r36 i now have has only ever been serviced at VW. Should I continue to take it to vw?

What price am i looking at for the major service?

My R36 was the same when I bought it but I don't like going to dealerships for services. I've had too many bad experiences that have left a sour taste in my mouth about them. I now go to an European car specialist (Cox Auto in Port Melbourne). The cost really depends on what needs to be done.

In the front of the service book there is a section that describes the intervals (at least as far as I can remember). The dealership should have ticked off what was done at the previous services and at what mileage so you can work out what needs to be done next.

Have you spoken to your mechanic about the new car yet? Ask him in particular about servicing the DSG. At the end of the day a car is a car but there are always slight differences obviously. If he is confident that he can work on it and your are comfortable with that then I see no reason to change that.

Every 60.000 km dsg oil, timing belt on 105.000 km. Rest of all minor services. Prices depends of dealership. Some people choose to go vw specialists some go direct to vw dealership.
Timing belt change cost around 900$, not sure for dsg oil change price.
If you mechanics does not have vw experience then better take you car to vw specialists.
    Regards
P.s. if i wrong, someone please correct me

Mmm, no timing belt on the R36, it is chain driven. Probably a different story on the TDI engine.

Correct EXCEPT that services are at 15,000k intervals or every 12 months Whichever comes first. Both my cars have had their 60,000k service after 4 years but both have done less than 30,000km

So what I couldnt care less what you do. I am retired and dont go out a lot. The point I am making that if you dont do a lot of K's you need to service it yearly regardless of usage. Obviously that fact escaped you.

The OP asked what the intervals were and you were incorrect to a point You asked for correction. The OP may or may not do as many K's as you or as few as me so he deserves the correct information

Read the service manual, thats what it says.

I did not mean to offend you. I know what do you want to say. Important fact which i forgot to mention: 15 k or one year. I know that cos i do service twice per year.
